"Overpriced and very average. Some of the staff are lovely but there’s a manager lady who is not friendly (at all). We asked to use the bathroom, the waiter said yes, then she was waiting outside to make us pay and followed us until we did."

Horrible venue , rude and surly staff. My daughter left her phone behind by mistake. When we went back to ask for it they denied seeing it even though we could see it in their venue on my own phone in the Find my iPhone app. We went to the Mayor’s office to report the issue, a very helpful gentleman from the office walked back to Le Clocher with us and the owner immediately returned the phone! Moving on to the food and service. Horrible food, sold at premium prices by surly and rude staff. But it did not spoil our visit to Saint-Émilion, a must-see medieval town in Nouvelle Aquitaine in south west France.

DO NOT BOTHER! Our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The food (we had pizzas) was average but very expensive. We had to wait over 10 minutes just for tap water to be brought to our table, despite us trying to get the attention of our waiter several times, we could not help but feel ignored. When it came to paying for the bill, our waiter did not even speak to us, he tapped away on the card machine and spoke to another waiter, no thank you or goodbye. A very big shame as it’s in such a beautiful setting.

I completely regret going here. Each plate is about 20 euros. The chicken was really dry. The french fries were soggy. The bread was soggy. The burger was over cooked. I think what makes it worse is that within the area, you can get gourmet food (and sometimes a three course meal) for the same price of a main dish here. I was also astonished that a muffin was priced at 4 euros and a canele was priced at 3 euros. Most expensive average pastries I’ve seen in France. Redeeming qualities: open all day, great view

Friendly waiter and the canele was delicious. On the downside I thought 5 euros was expensive for tea but then again I got 2 cups out of the teapot which was placed above the cup. I also thought that 7 euros for fresh orange juice was too expensive. The mushroom omelette was very tasty and the formule petit dejeneur (breakfast) which consisted of a fresh orange juice, coffee or hot chocolate , 1/3 baguette, a croissant, jam butter for 11 euros was expensive but then again you are in St Emilion.
