Nice atmosphere but give the sweetbreads a miss. At €35 and cooked with almost no seasoning, they ere very bland and I left most of them. The truffade €19 was more tasty but still terribly basic, potatoes, garlic and cheese that I was staggered at the menu prices. I love sweetbreads and always order them when they are on the menu but was thoroughly unimpressed with the way the food was cooked at this restaurant, especially after reading so many great reviews and driving over 4 hours to get here. My partner had the scallops which were cooked the same way and were just about acceptable but not that enjoyable either. The local Auvergne reds were very good at about €25 a bottle. Booked for Sunday lunch pre match as choice of restaurants was more limited on a Sunday. What a find. We started with a Kir made with a chestnut liqueur, delicious then a complementary pate and bread before the main courses of veal and veal kidneys served with the local truffade. Huge portions but we still managed an excellent prune dessert. Service was a little swift as our food arrived before we had drunk our aperitif but the staff we aware there was a rugby match that afternoon and we did not feel rushed after that. Menu is from a blackboard and changes frequently and had some great choices for offal lovers. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
We went there and to be honest after looking at the menu we wanted to leave : 1) my wife is not a « meat » eater and other than one dish there is limited choice for such customer no chicken no fish no veg) 2) i hate potatoes and cooked cheese and ALL their dishes are going with either « trufade mashed potatoes with cheese) or roast potato !! Finally they proposed my delicious lentil with lamb and my wife took a « truffade » with ham. I must confesse that it was absolutely delicious and proportions are outrageously big almost twice of what we can eat). Drinks are affordable and service does the best to help. Simple, yet great food experience.
Pleasant decor, decorated for New Year's Eve. The menu, written on a chalkboard, offered plenty of choice and the chance to sample local cuisine. All dishes are served with a side of truffaude--a dish of potatoes, onions and melted cheese. We ordered scallops and sweetbreads and were disappointed with both the presentation and the bland, unimaginative preparation. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she offered hot sauce which was hardly an acceptable solution--especially given the price of the meals. Accueil sympathique. Spécialités auvergnates de qualité et en quantité dans les assiettes ! Même si on perd tous les ans contre l'ASM on revient avec plaisir. On a ramené de la truffade que l'on a pas pu finir grâce aux boîtes fournies par la maison à Paris. Merci au patron et son équipe.
patron sympa, restaurant typique de spécialité auvergnate, une truffade qui est un régal jamais manger d'aussi bonne, un restaurant généreux , petit bémol sur le rapport qualité prix idéal pour découvrir les spécialités auvergnates en plus ouvert les dimanche et les jours fériés
Every now and again I eat meat but this occasion was not worth it. I had sausages with truffade, the sausages were ok but the truffade was unpleasantly fatty and tasteless. The local Pinot Noir wine was the saving grace but I will never eat here again
