Le Crabe Tambour

I found several good reviews of this restaurant on the net and so whilst in Biarritz we decided to try it out. The location is in a quiet residential area of town, away from the buzz of the beach, with relaxed locals going about their business. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who was helpful throughout our dinner. The fish soup was excellent and my roast hake with chorizo was fab. Other notable courses in our group were the seafood tagliatelle (fresh), the garlic prawns and the cod cooked Spanish style. We drank a light crisp rose from Provence that was perfect and at 18 Euros was well priced. There was duck and cote de boeuf available for non fish eaters so most bases covered. I would definitely return and recommend this great little restaurant.

We came here three times whilst on holiday in Biarritz, preferring it to some of the flashier (and pricier) central restaurants. The food was excellent, well cooked and nicely served, and very large portions, which kept my teenage son happy! Staff were really friendly, and the location, on a quiet back road away from the crowds, meant that although it was full it never seemed frantic. Would definitely recommend.

Small, intimate restaurant with a small but extremely good menu. The only problem is parking but worth the trouble!
