Le Flagrant des Lices

came to carcassonne on the way from toulouse. had to have lunch here and i thought the restaurants here are sure to be tourist traps. i mean this place is a castle and its grounds are full of souvenir shops and all...but i couldnt be more wrong. i checked out the menus of several restaurants and decided on here. i saw the 29eur menu which i can have foie gras as the entree, margret de canard for the main and a choc lava cake with ice cream for dessert. i am so glad i chose this restaurant. the foie gras mi cuit was delicious. the highlight was the margret at almost perfect medium rare. absolutely delicious. the dessert was amazing too, the chocolate oozing out from the cake perfectly. they have menu with cheaper prices and a la carte too...the restaurant was packed not too long after the opened for lunch. so go early. i believe they start service at 12noon.i cannot comment about the other restaurants but for sure i would recommend this one.

On a recent 4 day stay in Carcassonne on a wet Monday February evening this was one of the few restaurants open yet it had no one in there. We very nearly walked past ourselves but called in all the same. We are pleased that we did and given its popularity on the following nights it could only have been the weather that kept people away because there was certainly nothing wrong with the cooking. We went for one of the set 3 course menu and each course was flavoursome and of a good quality. A lovely evening meal as well as our cheapest during our stay. Well done.

While most other restaurants within the walls of the medieval city have gone into hibernation for winter this place provided more than just a warm place to sit.We came in for lunch on a Sunday and nothing was a problem for their staff. From providing my partner with an English menu to helping us choose the perfect wine to go with our meal. Food was delicious, served in a timely manner and more than reasonably priced. Would recommend this restaurant to both French and non-speaking French tourists alike.

We had a wonderful dinner. Food was great and of course we tried the typical "cassoulet". It was really good and tasty. Waiters we're profesional and close. We order local red wine and it was good. Location was excellent, just close to the Narbona door in a very tourist square. Price was adjusted to the quality. Definitely we made a good decision. We recommend this restaurant to anyone.

3 of us visited this place, one a vegetarian, two meat eaters. We had good food and good choices. Wine by the pichet was good quality and fresh. Very satisfied with choices, price, quality, service etc. When we went in, the place was busy, and we could see why. We will use the Flagrant des Lices again.
