Le Grand Jardin

Just a short drive east along the D901 is a place that many of my family have come to enjoy. Not only for the food which is very good value, but also the social side, great hosts, staff and service. Bertrand goes back to Lyon tomorrow, so a good time was had by all the family (Angeline, Simmone, Rene, Bertrand and myself) during the meal and after. We all had various dishes, but mine: Salade Landaise superb selection of which I kept a 1/3 back to go with the Steak, much to the amusement of the ladies present. Steak Hache a Cheval nice and light. I asked for the egg to be lightly done.. and it was and blended so well with the medium rare steak and so gentle in the mouth excellent. Tartare de Boeuf I'm really getting to like tartare, really enjoyable. As one of these dishes (the steak) is new to me, I drank only water to get the full flavour.

We never didn't go as we thought it was closed but it only opens at 7.30pm. Was a lovely restaurant and so convenient when staying at the hotel Saint Louis. There is a great atmosphere to it and the decor makes it nice and relaxing to have diner. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. We received a free little starter to share. 2 of us had the picatta of chicken with light seasoning and this was succulent even my usually fussy daughter commented on how nice her food was. Would definitely recommend.

Not a promising location on the Z.A. St. Louis off of a roundabout on the L'Isle sur le Sorgue Thor road, next to the Hotel St. Louis. In late September it was not busy, mostly patrons from the hotel, I think. Food was very good, as was the service and ambience. Not a huge choice on the menu, but a daily plat du jour. We ate there twice and were not disappointed. Prices reasonable.

Stayed one night at the hotel next-door and had a wonderful tasty dinner here. The staff was very kind and the food was excellent. I had a lovely very French salad with foie gras and gesiers, followed by a beautiful lamb shank.

Le Grand Jardin is what the name says : a large garden where you get served very good food. Beautiful old trees provide the shade you need on hot summer evenings.
