We had lunch at this small estaminet in the main square in Arques. The other diners were a mix of local office workers, older couples, etc. Service was friendly, the menu choice was good, and the food was excellent. They have a good range of local beers and other drinks, and the prices for food were very reasonable and the portions substantial. An everyday sort of place that others often try to copy with much less success.

Serving traditional/regional dishes, with an extra touch gourmande such as mousseline on carrots. Discrete and friendly service. We enjoyed a 3 courses menu and were very satisfied. The local bier was very good with our meal. Count 2 hours to enjoy a full menu. We did reserve a table, you may be lucky, but if you have decided to go, you better reserve.

After failing to find 3 other restaurants open on a thursday evening, we asked a local man who led us to this one. How lucky - it was a good atmosphere with an interesting fixed price menu featuring several interesting dishes.All courses were great, and the service was good and helpful too (there was even a menu available in English).

This tiny estaminet looks nothing from the outside, but inside the atmosphere is convivial and welcoming. The food is outstanding of its type - good home cooking at its very best: local dishes and local produce.

We visited here as a group of 8 including 3 young children and were made to feel very welcome and the food is very traditional homemade french cuisine and is of a very high standard
