We were wandering looking for a Restaurant and saw that there was an outside seating area. The food was good and the service was good up to near the end of the night. It was busy, but the staff worked well. The meals were well received by all seven of us. It was a lovely warm evening so the courtyard seating was ideal. However when we had finished our meal we wanted coffee. We waited, and waited, and waited for a member of staff to appear and after ten minutes one of us went and found all the staff sat outside at the front of the restaurant smoking. We just asked for the bill and left. So the restaurant missed the coffee order and the staff got a smaller tip instead of the ten percent usuall...
At the end of a long tiring first day in Carcassonne, all my wife and I wanted was a pizza and a beer. It would have been easy to pick any of the restaurants in the nearby square but only 50 metres away was Le Magnac.From the front, it doesn't look that appealing but with the promise of an outside eating area at the rear of the restaurant, in we went.The service was excellent, the eating area was lovely and the pizzas were some of the best we have had.....better than Rome and on a par with Florence. Overall we were delighted with our choice.
Le Magnac was one of many restaurants recommended by our local hosts in Carcassonne. We were not disappointed at all! We had cassoulet and salade du geziers (duck gizzards) ... both of which were *delicious*. We couldn't have had a better introduction to the "ducks" of the area! We ordered a very local (Minervois) bottle of red wine, which complimented our meal beautifully. Our servers were smiley, friendly, happy, and welcoming to us. We closed the place down, and left with big smiles on our faces, and pleasantly filled tummies!
Previous reviews led me here. The restaurant didn't match up to expectations. The ambience is good..a courtyard with music..and it is not expensive. There ends the positives. The food is mediocre, microwaved in the main. The drinks..both wine and beer are poor. The service is slow, another understaffed restaurant! The toilet is bigger than the cooking area!

We were hoping for a fairly quick meal, but, after the first course, we waited for OVER an hour for main course. A couple of more some reason everyone else was served first - even down to their deserts. No explanation/apologies. The waitress never said a word to us - LITERALLY! VERY disappointing. This is the worst place we have encountered in Carcassonne.
Had two meals in two successive nights here. First night was busy and the next, not so. However, the food and service were excellent. Anything asked was explained and advice given by young, friendly staff in a warm, informal manner. I had the same meal for 22 euros . Three meats,was gorgeous. The house wine is excellent too. Would recommend.
We chose this place over the main square because we craved some authenticity after a disappointing visit to the tasteless and tacky old cite. Almost an hour passed before we saw the three very ordinary pizzas - of which mine contained an unwelcome raw egg. Smiley staff made this almost forgivable but not not a very memorable lunch.
We kind of stumbled upon this place and did not know what to expect. We were very pleased with our choice. Both of us had set meals. My husband chose the one with cassoulet, and it did not disappoint. It was hearty, tasty, and very filling. The service staff was so friendly and attentive.

After reading other reviews on Tripadvisor about Le Magnat we went there for dinner at 8.30pm on a quiet Wednesday night. Some drinks we wanted were not available and every pizza had crime fraiche or sour cream. The service was slow and the pizzas were not enjoyable to eat.
