We where overwhelmed by our meal at this beautiful restaurant, set in the grounds of the magnificent Château Léognan, where we were stopping over for a night. The restaurant is in a beautifully converted stables but all diners were seated outside on the terrace, which was large enough to have been a former riding area. The staff, despite their apparent youth, were knowledgeable, attentive and professional and gave us excellent advice on the wine (from the domaine). Each dish was a masterpiece: a magical fusion of flavours, put together with the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients. The tomatoes were out of this world! We wanted to go somewhere for a pleasant and relaxing and good meal and this place certainly lived up to our hopes. It is in a beautiful location only about 15 minutes out of main Bordeaux. It is so quiet and tranquil. We had a pre meal drink which was a really nice cocktail and enjoyed this in their comfortable chairs. We chose to sit outside which was wonderful. The menu is great a touch choice of food! It was beautiful. Really well cooked and tasty. Service was brilliant. We had one of their red wines from the winery which was good (2014). In all a beautiful meal.
We’ve gone there because of the promise of the menu and the reputation. It is a pretty good place to eat, because of the menu and because of the place, charming one, nearby a Pessac Léognan wine castle. Interesting tastes and flavours, well mixed, but « classic » enough to be accepted easily by everybody, good point, sometimes, too much innovating menu make it not acceptable by all. 4/5, why ? If you’re looking for a peaceful exquisitely cooked meal surrounded by forest in the Bordeaux vineyard region, this should tick all your boxes. It’s well hidden off the beaten track but easily found via Google Maps. Wine from the vineyard can be bought in their shop and on weekdays there are a variety of tours available. Their three course set menu “Le Tour de Manége” costs (currently) €39.00 but is very fine cuisine thus not copious. We certainly intend to return!
The setting is wonderful, surrounded by horses in the fields. Service was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the gravlax which was simply delicious, probably one of the best I have ever tasted. My husband had a very good fish dish and we had some iberico ham to share with the kids. we had deserts which were delicious and they offered us some sweets with coffee. I am not normally a fan of the classic French macaroons but these were yummy. Recommend.
Dinner at Le Manege was exceptional!!! From the warm welcome we received to the fond farewell of the staff, everything about this extraordinary restaurant was everything we had hoped for and more!!! Amazing outdoor eating environment, exquisite food and outstanding wine!!! Everything was perfect. I only wish we could eat there more often, but our trip to the Bordeaux region is brief. Given the opportunity, we will return as quickly as we can!!!
Main dishes good but the starters and desserts not at the same level. Staff was nice and professional but nothing much. The best of this restaurant is the environment which is in the middle of the nature surrounded by pine forests and it is enclosed in the property of Chateau Leognan. All-in-all I would say good experience but for the price would expect something more exquisite so not good enough value for the money.
Really nice place. We went for starters and tapas style dishes as so hot didn't really want anything cooked. All dishes were excellent. Easily worth a visit for dinner. Wine prices quite high but quality producers. We stuck to the chateau's own wines which were great value and delicious.
