We heard from friends that a couple who had hospitality businesses in south Devon, had, about 3 years ago, bought a hotel in the Charente, just north of Angouleme and only about an hour from where we live further south. As it was our 45th Wedding Anniversary, I decided to book for 3 nights over the weekend and give it a go. The website shows the appeal of the place We were warmly greeted by Will and Jasmine and shown to a beautiful room on the second floor The Luxury Attic Suite. We had a great family stay at Le Palais, with Jasmine and Will. The Palace is superb, renovated with great taste and a lot of love, it shows! The site is a few minutes walk from the charming little village of Verteuil, small but very lively! The palace is a real haven of peace, serenity... Jasmine and Will are such welcoming and kind hosts! They are very caring, so accommodating, very understanding (we were 4 with an 8-year-old girl and a 2.5-year-old clown! . They know the village and the surrounding area perfectly and are very good advice! Formidable sums up our week at le Palais. We have no hesitation providing a 5 star review for Will and Jasmine and Le Palais. We simply had the best holiday with superb accommodation, incredible food, and lots of activities from walks to canoeing and wine tasting. We cannot recommend more highly and unbelievable hosts Food drinks: The breakfasts changed every day and all were superb with fresh juices, local fruit and a delicious hot option. Will and Jasmine are the perfect hosts of this beautiful house. Never before have we stayed somewhere where the hosts have been so helpful and truly care about their guests. Breakfast is exceptional, the rooms are very tastefully decorated and if you decide to dine with your hosts, the food is amazing. The village is only a short walk from the house across the river that also has bars and restaurants. William and Jasmine were the perfect hosts during our all too brief stay at Le Palais, making us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was first class, beautifully decorated, with superb attention to detail throughout. We enjoyed a fabulous evening meal on the terrace, complimented by a lovely breakfast the following morning. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
