in a spa treatment with bigorre bagnères in Mars-Avril period, we make a stop to payolle, and we lunch a few times at the refuge, the setting is rustic, the friendly reception, the prices are very correct (in relation to the average quality of the products without any doubt), you should not expect a refined and neat cuisine, it is a simple, copyy cuisine, grilled dishes, Despite this, although we are accustomed to a more refined and traditional cuisine, we still stop there, for the setting, the rustic aspect of the place, the reception, we feel good, it is calm, the view is superb.
We used to eat here a few years ago with a good dish of the day. the formulas have remained but the quality is no longer there. metro products without flavor. grades of sheep of poor quality. fries frozen without taste. ice cream and basque cake first price not good at all. service correct but lack of smile. short super disappointed and we won't come back! To avoid. prefer one of the neighbouring restaurants with homemade fact for a few euros more smile, wine and coffee included.
Every year in a bigorre bagnères treatment, we come to lunch a few times in this place to the authentic mountain scenery and to the very nice welcome, a clin d'oeil to the boss! ;) tasting simple dishes, traditional and well-stocked, such as grilled dishes (Lamb coasts, sheep ribs, fake-filet and also thigh of canard confit, accompanied by saladmel and fries, oat a well appreciated dish in the mountains!. dessert a good share of Basque cake and/or sheep cheese. - Oh!
we arrived very late to eat the noon after a walk. They agreed to serve us a menu of the day despite the late hour. we had no choice for meat and had a simple toulous sausage. It didn't bother us, the fries were good and so, with the salad, the plate was a copyy and rejuvenating after a good walk. The Basque cake was good and creamy. I found the welcome was very good. for the maxi salads you won't be down. However, to ban the mushroom omelet. My brother-in-law was sick as a dog nailed to bed for 3 days and eating almost nothing during the rest of our stay. A precious advice... which has the future can preserve our health... go to the toilet before order... you will not be disappointed with the wonderful nauseabond scents...
Just after (or before) lr mythical aspin collar you will find a small esplanade with three cafes/restos and some shops. We briefly stopped at the shelter to cool down with a drink. The welcome and very well and the drinks arrive quickly. We feel a good atmosphere with the staff. A good-humored guy and we're leaving!
