we had offered a “smartbox” by some charming friends who titled us a prepaid “cooked meal” for two in a large selection of restaurants in France, but drinks and other extras were not included. we have this gift in le troquet in...Cancale, and here is the upshot. the deal offers a limited “cook menu” in contrast to the entire menu that is available to other diners. in this case we received three options for starters, for nets and desserts that have proven to be very sufficient. our first drinks, mineral water, fruit juice, glass wine and coffee were extras that came to € 30. the first greeting was a tad lukewarm, but improved how we could talk to the waiters. a free “Amuse Bouche”, along with...

le troquet looks like a different choice of quayside dinner, but once in the inner we found an dinner tasty bites for a menu choice of lobster meat in calvados to die. we could only book one table at eight, and even then we had to. wait for a parking space at the parking lot at the sea. it was worth waiting (and the price.) we chose an extra big lobster so that we could share it too, it was a lot lobster. the chef came up to illuminate the fire, and the whole restaurant stopped what they eat to watch the flames. it was spectacular, and possibly the best lobster we've ever had. By the way, if they were 're testing (they should be) it was made by the kilo. there were other tempting elements on...

unfortunately we have a very dry and tasteless bisque and the oysters were somewhat overpriced. above the waiter claimed we had ordered wein that we never asked and ever got. all this served with an arrogance that they sometimes meet in a tourist destination. all in a bad and overpriced experience. we meet another family on the way that had the same bisque and expressed the same experience.

after ordering 2 seafood and 2 risottos for late lunch for 6 (4 children) we were asked to order more after weep. when I refused when children were processed the food option was sinking and chips (basic and unhealthy) were told me waiter was...new and did not know the rules, although I asked him if order was sufficient for the family. very poor, avoid. for whom no apologies, no eating.

Best food I’ve ever eaten but I’m English so what do I know! Blown away. Good with vegan and veggie options for kids too.
