We were in Saint Denis, way out of central Paris at the end of the Metro line, specifically to see the nearby Basilica which we had been aware of for decades. Our visit lasted longer than expected and we got hungry by about 2.30. There are a handful of other cafes/ brasseries but we liked the look of the chalkboard outside this one, although the tinted windows meant taking a chance on the staff and clientele inside. We were ushered to a nice window table by a charming waiter and settled down. There was no printed menu and an elderly graphic artist at the next table suggested the restaurant had recently changed hands.
