Rather than follow the walking tour of Sete, we decided to go on our own and after exploring the Les Halles market and the shopping streets of town, we found this lovely place. While many restaurants had closed for the season, Les Goelands was bustling. The decor was a notch above everywhere else we passed, so we took a chance and it did not disappoint. We were the only non-French people there, which is always a good sign. The first thing that happened after a local tapenade with bread and water was brought out was our waiter (the owner? brought out a selection of uncooked fish to admire including dourade, loup, and red tuna, apparently a local Mediterranean specialty.
