Such a shame as the restaurant has prime position. Just no atmosphere and food is terrible. I ordered ribs but it was more like boiled pork bone dipped in a barbecue sauce my husband had the tuna as he had it before a few years back which was a whole tuna steak with a teriyaki sauce e but now it’s pieces of tuna on vegetables just not the same. Service was rushed and they seamed stressed but it was early in the evening and not that many had arrived yet. Our customers at our B&B went there last nite and said it was awful just not the same as before they wanted Moules and frites with the kids but only did that in the daytime.
Food excellent. but initially we were told to order drink at the bar they served a beer but on being asked for a bottle of white wine we were shown 4 bottles not a wine list.! The server wa poorly advised on what wine was similar to the tupe we requested. we had to pay before it was opened!! However we perservered as we had a good meal in this restaurant a couple of times before. The quality of food remains excellent Thon steak to die for yet the service has deteriorated !! It ruined the evening and given we live in walking distance it will be a long time before we return for that service ! Sadly .
Made a reservation at the place for the next day, but didn't get the place, owner said NO and walked away. Ok. After French that obviously didn't reserve were surprised happy to get the place. Right. Lady of the house served, looked very stressed and didn't take time. Diner was ok, ceasar salad with supermarket salad for 16 euro's, you can get much better for lower price in French. However the place itself is very cool, with nice seats direct along the river, nice hip decorated. But the owners were not cool so we didn't come back.
We go here several times a year. Every time we have been the service has been attentive and pro active. When the restaurant was completely full we did not have an overlong wait. The staff speak french and english which is not the case in most restaurants in Cognac. The food was good and the snacking section excellent. Drinks can be pricey stick to the local Charentais wines which, though little known, are good value.

Good location next to the river.Pre-lunch drinks then salad.Very slow service in common with other reviews. Not enough obviously lightly trained summer servers during the lunch-time rush.Avoid tables adjacent to river as a small gust of wind can blow the parasol over the diners, as it did to one unfortunate couple.Plenty of competition around the ancient & pretty town of Cognac.
A fantastic location by the side of the river, with amazing views down to the Hennessy factory. We called in to have lunch and the food served was amazing and the service was great. Two of us had the black pudding and two had salads. All the food was huge and really tasty. I have attached photos of what we ate. It's well worth a visit
Beautiful place and location, but service was slow and overrun and not overly friendly... We enjoyed the Cognac cocktail we tried, and they have original choices such as Mexican beers and sodas. We didn't try the food as kitchen is only available from 19.00 (and probably for lunch, I guess)
Visited here for a drink after a meal in Cognac. A very pleasant setting by the Charente river. It wasn't too busy being a Monday evening. We sat by the river and listened to the world go by while supping our drinks. Will be visiting again that is for sure.

Perfect location good service ... fantastic share plate with great variety and great value. The fish in fish n chips was a bit disappointing as it was probably frozen and imported!! Everything else was amazing and is definitely worth a visit
