L'Esplanade - Reservar una mesa

Four adults, a three year old and a nine month old baby did well for lunch here. L'Esplanade overlooks the sea in a prominent position in Berck. Berck itself is a busy seaside resort with many establishments offering crepes, gaufres and dessert menus. L'Esplanade offers a proper lunch menu. It has a covered group of tables on the sidewalk and a larger interior, which we chose. There were other families with children of all ages eating here. The staff were accommodating, child friendly and understood our needs. On the way home from Rouen, we decided to pop in to seaside town and have a lunch.We spotted this place in TripAdvisor and decided GO there straight away. We sat outside, was a bit windy but it's covered and can eat outdoor at any weather, just could be a bit noisy when windy. So guys didn't understand properly in English :) same as I in French :) but we managed to order food, it was €29.90 set menu, Starter + main I got myself chicken Cesar salad and then steak, I asked a medium rare, and it was. It undercooked, and I asked to cook it a bit more, and they replaced for me the whole meal with new steak which was well cooked this time! :) For €29 You get lovely set menu options, a huge amount...

Lovely French restaurant right on the sea front. Two of us went for a midweek dinner. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with the menu - which is only in French. We had the 22 euro for two courses option. One starter of delicious, sweet brown shrimps and plump prawns followed by moules mariniere and frites. Also firm white fish in a citrus sauce followed by grilled cheese and salad. All beautifully presented and accompanied by an excellent house white. Good quality food at a reasonable price with a sunset thrown in.

We had dinner on Saturday night. We went there for the positive review but the place was not what we expected at all. High prices and low quality food. We had an appetiser with shrimps and the portion was very small. The bread was chewy and old. The moulds were ok but expensive. In conclusion, this is a classic trap for tourists high prices, low quality and small portions. We do not suggest to go here.

L'esplanade Berck a traditional lunch stop before embarking at Calais. The mostly seafood menu is excellent, though steak-and-chips is available. Particular favourite is the generous 'pink and grey' (prawn and shrimp) starter. The restaurant is very comfortable, and popular with the locals. Service polite rather than friendly, but dogs are welcome. Prices moderate.
