The second visit to Levanter. Pretty bad experience the first time a couple of years back where we found ourselves to be the only people in there one evening and had the waiters stood around impatiently wanting us to hurry and finish so they could close. Levanter seems to have a lot of hype around it, hence we gave it another chance (maybe it was just a one-off... er, no). We genuinely can't understand why the place is bigged up so much. We love Spanish tapas, which is why we tried it in the first place so we kind of knew what kind of dishes we would be getting. However, the menu was limited, the food itself, average, at best and the glasses of wine, tiny. The tables are really cramped toget...
Restaurant cancelled my reservation at late notice without any explanation. This was for a special occasion on 5th April and restaurant cancelled 4th April despite having sent an email the previous asking that I confirm the booking. Tried contacting them via phone and email without success. However, on checking their website there’s a message thanking all customers over the past 9 years as the restaurant is now closed. Sad that the business has now ceased but if this is the level of customer service and care then it’s hardly a surprise. A telephone call or email of explanation would have been common courtesy.
I have always been a supporter and regular customer of Levanter, but my recent experience was very disappointing due to terrible customer service. I hope that management train their very young staff to welcome their customers warmly, speak to them politely, check how they are enjoying their food and bring the bill when asked. All basic expectations but we received none of the above. We were made to feel like an inconvenience and the subject of gossip amongst the staff rather than customers.
Lovely food, authentic and we'll portioned. The meat and cheese sharing platter was a particular highlight. Was quiet busy but we were served in good time and well looked after.
