We've been coming to Menton for many, many years and have never tried the Exocet but decided to give it a go as we fancied to eat by the sea. We have previously avoided it in the past because it seemed relatively expensive and they often have awful singing acts there in the evening but there was a reasonably priced set menu and no singer so we gave it a go.We decided to have the set menu as advertised but the waiter was very keen to push a different daily special, which wasn't priced. We were staying in Menton and someone we knew had told us to try this restaurant.I am not sure if it was because it was late in the season, but, I felt that there was little enthusiasm for the task in hand.I had moules frites and my other half had sardines. The moules were okay, but not the best that I have had and certainly could have done with being in the cleaning bucket a little longer, they were a little gritty. The frites were a little soggy. The restaurant is just beside the beach.It looks nice and seem to have a good menu.Service is bad. They are simply lazy.They are talking to each other and have a good timerather than serving guests. It took forever before we got our water and wine.We ended up going into the restaurant to pay becausethey never showed up.Food took even longer to get.The food was cold when we got it.It was not seasoned at all.The potatoes on my plate might have seen a better life a couple of years ago.The fish was of good quality nut tasted nothing.We ordered chips. Amazing view to the sea, but just next to the noisy street. The penne alla carbonara were tasty but a bit overcooked, and the calamari underfried. The niçoise salad was generous and fresh. The waiter was nice but alone for the whole terrace and the service was veeeery sloooooow. 30 minutes for the check and we decided to go inside and pay. I had not read any reviews of this restaurant before we decided to go there for lunch solely on the basis that it was nearest to where we were. We has escalope de veau a la creme and spaghetti bolognaise. The escalope was very well cooked and the sauce was great. The bolognaise was an enormous portion but definitely had that home cooked taste. The service was very friendly and speedy. Well done!
Food not to good - awful Salade de Chèvre. Slices of cheese just cover bread which seem not to be baked same day - mussels in heavy salted water etc. Very unfriendly service - but have to consider their hopeless situation: Understaffed and each time they have to risk their lives crossing the street from the restaurant to the outdoor places causing them to be tired. Never there again - sorry.
Stopped here for lunch while down on the Promenade de Soleil beach area and sat inside. The server seemed less then enthusiastic and we were the only people in the restaurant at 12:30 PM There were a few outdoor tables available but no one using them. The pizza we ordered was alright but a little pricier than normal in Menton. They do serve alcohol and do have a child's menu.
We stopped here for lunch while in Menton and chose their fixed price menu. The choices were reasonable and the quality was average. However, the service was poor, it was disjointed, totally disorganized, somewhat brusque and after we had finished our meal we had to ask three times to get our bill. Would not recommend it as there are many other restaurants in the same area.

We loved sitting right next to the beach under an awning instead of inside. We only had drinks, but they were brought right away, were not expensive compared to other places in the area, and the check was brought without waiting. If you want to feel the sea breeze, watch the gulls, waves and people on the beach and not be rushed, this was a perfectly acceptable place.
4 of us had lunch here which was very pleasant, friendly staff and great sitting overlooking the beach.
