I'm so glad we got to try this gem in Newton Centre! We went around 6:45pm on a Friday and it was about a 30 minute wait for a table of 5 (waitlist with texts). There are only around 2 3 tables, plus around 8 counter seats, so seating is quite limited. The wait was worth it, because the food was delicious. My favorite item was the green papaya salad. The atmosphere was great, service was great as well. The servers were knowledgeable and brought the food out in a timely manner. They were also very friendly and recommended the best options for our party. Unfortunately the food wasn’t the best and I had my expectations high due to everyone raving about the place. I got the chef’s ultra ramen. My personal opinion is that a ramen is characterized by a great broth and ingredients, which unfortunately it had neither. Thursday evening at 5:30pm, 3 of us. off to a rough start, we were seated at a table for 2 because they didn't want to waste a table for 4 on 3 people. It was clearly too small for our party and the restaurant was empty. We asked again and they begrudgingly moved us to a larger table. The food was fine. I didn't find it special. We had a papaya salad. 2 ramens and 1 karyage chicken bowl. 2 cocktails and 1 soda, and it was just over $100 before tip. Service once we ordering was fine and friendly after the initial bumps. Food is soso not really real Japanese ramen which i didn’t expected anyway. But service was poor. Gave us appetizer and after appetizer gone for 35min, other 2-3 table who came long after us got food and almost finished. We still haven’t got our food. Not recommended!! Guy waiter even asked us “so what do you want? Want to take home instead?”” And what specific table who got food before you?” I pointed to them.. He goes “oh coz they didn’t have appetizer, you have appetizer so we want you to finished first” I was “but we finished half an hour ago” He was “oh sorry for that then” Speechless. Very cute Ramen place!! I had the spicy miso Ramen $18). I typically only like mild spice levels, and this bowl was perfect! Great portions. Dining area is a bit small so I would recommend coming in before the dinner rush. Staff was incredibly nice very attentive. This is some of the best ramen in the Boston area, in my opinion. And honestly their green papaya salad is out of this world. The seating is super limited indoors during the cold months, but they have outdoor dining when it?s a bit warmer which willincrease your chances of getting a table a little quicker. Otherwise, you can expect a little wait since they don?t take anyreservations but it?s worth it. Such a great little spot.
Loved it. As newbies, we didn't know what to order for ramen, so Matt was very, very helpful in recommending some options and went out of his way to make our first experience wonderful. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The food was delicious and we were able to get parking pretty easily. Drinks were tasty too. We will be back. Highly recommend. Update March 2025: last 2 visits the broth is now very watery and flavorless, what a shame this was one of the great bowls in the Boston area. Ya buddy...amazing ramen. Satiates all senses and is quite an experience, one may even need a nap after Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
