"We went a Saturday at lunch time at l'Ormeau, I had the impression that we pay more for the nice view rather than the food that is quite simple. In addition the owner is not very smiley and can be a bit rude."

We love Cancale and were pleased to return on one of the hottest days of the year. When we there last May 2013, it was very chilly and windy and not so pleasant. You are spoiled for choice of where to eat but we chose L'Ormeau and are so pleased we did as the moules were delicious and the owners very friendly and welcoming. Also good to note so many local residents eating there always a good sign. There seemed to be coachloads of tourists in Cancale that day and we were pleased that L'Ormeau was't overcrowded with them! (Sorry if that sounds a bit selfish but walking along the front after lunch, the big place at the end nearest the oyster market was absolutely heaving with people! Lovely to...
We went here on Thursday 25th August for dinner with our friends. The table was reserved prior to the evening as we didn't know how busy it would get. We were greeted by the hosts and seated to a lovely table overlooking the sea. The menu was all in French but Christian was more than happy to help us into English. My friend and I had a starter and main while my husband and friend's husband had Fruits de Mers. We had been recommended this restaurant by the reception staff at our camp site. It was a very beautifull experience , we stay at the Hotel Continental at 12 pp for 5 nigths, first night we couln't have dinner because it was an electrical problem, but the others 4 nights was surprise after surprise, The owner, Christophe Wasseur was kind enough to ask us what we would like to taste for the following day, We had from a simple but very well done Artichoke , or a dozen of oysters to a home made Duck foie gras, and for main course from an exeptional pork Chop with mustard sauce to the outstanding Lamb from the pres sales de la Baie du Mt St Michel or a Cannette BIO roasted to the perfection . My wife and I had dinner at the Restaurant at the end of September 2015. The setting with the view of the harbor and the boats was simply beautiful. The service was perfect; the owner and his wife did all the serving. And seafood and the pre-sale lamb was excellent. This was the first time but we will return. A place not to miss during your Cancale visit.
