Loverciano - Reserva de mesa

Dining with our swiss friend who is local to the area , we entered the restaurant which was relatively busy , we were shown to our table , we then waited until we finally asked for a menu, no wine list was given, we had...to prompt the staff at every given opportunity , our food took a very long time and they had got the order incorrect offered no accompaniments at which point we didn't even bother to complain, our plates were finally cleared , no offer of coffee or dessert while everyone around us seemed to be getting much quicker and better service even though we had arrived before them. Awful experience , poor value.

On the occasion of the gastronomic event we ate saddle for a cost of 55 CHF per person. The saddle was of good quality, the only flaw was the cooking which for one was almost well done and the other had a blue cooking. The Brussels sprouts were simply boiled and not braised or stewed, the spätzli on the other hand were very good, the red cabbage was also decent. It's a shame that the flagship dish of the event isn't treated better, a saddle eaten by several people is desirable to be served on a tray and not on plates, in this way saddle has only the name and should be called sirloin. The dessert was very good.

We stopped there for lunch during a hike around Mendrisio. The owner kindly welcomed us and seated us at a table on their beautiful terrace, conveniently placed in the shade of trees.We ordered "today's special", which our friendly waiter brought very quickly. Our food was very tasty and our mouths also watered from looking at our neighbours' dishes! We recommend having a glass of Merlot di Ticino with your meal.For families, there is also a big and seemingly very entertaining playground.A lovely experience!

I went there as part of a large group and we had arranged a fixed menu for 45 chf. The fixed menu was basically only one main course (ribs), which was quite good. The rest of the dinner was the problem: the appetizers were just...two tiny bruschette and the ice cream was something that should not be served anywhere. Pink and white, with a clearly chemical feeling to it. Many of us said it tasted like a chupa chups lollipop, obviously not the most genuine flavour. Reserva una mesa ahora

If you are already shopping at the super mall in Mendrisio, I advise you to take a break at this very special Grotto. They offer you excellent wines and their typical dish la sella di capriolo which would be translated as roe deer back. It is in the hunting period. It is very well served with a typical wine. I advise you! I will be back very soon...

If you like to eat under a nice cover of trees that's the place. Food spans from grilled meat to Salumi, nothing really remarkable, you pay for the location. Mind no panoramas though. There are nicer places very close which come with wonderful views of the valleys around Mendrisio and Generoso. Very convenient for a business lunch.

Very good restaurant, excellent meat and venison. they have a very good local red wine "Loverciano". In summer time enjoy the lunch and the dinner outside, under the chestnut trees.
