Best Western Suburbs Japanese Chinese Restaurant. We tried Lu 's Sushi and Chinese in Glen Ellyn on a whim. What a great experience!! The restaurant is immaculate (the bathroom was spotless , the service was GREAT and the food well... FANTASTIC! The decor is beautiful and calming. The size of the restaurant allows for groups (there are separate areas to the side and rear of the restaurant as well as an area room that accommodates the traditional Japanese custom of sitting on cushions at a low table . The menu at Lu 's is divided into Japanese and Chinese selections. In addition to a large menu featuring both styles of cooking, they have a nice selection of adult beverages. We have been To Lu 's twice now after our first visit, we chose it as our restaurant to go to for our anniversary! Below is a summary of both visits. Appetizers we tried: assorted Chinese pickles, gyoza, tempura, 4pc assorted sushi (chef 's choice and fried oysters. The pickles were artfully arranged on white china and colors were so beautiful: green pickle slices but these were not typical pickles they were crunchy, fresh and hinted with fresh ginger. The Gyoza (Japanese pan fried dumplings was texturally perfect softly steamed then pan seared for that nice crisp side. They were served with a soy/mirin sort of dipping sauce. The tempura was seasonal vegetables and shrimp. The tempura was light, crisp and hot (right out of the fryer . The fried oysters were also hot, crispy and tasted of the sea. The dipping sauce for the oysters was A 1 steak sauce. Maybe that 's a Japanese thing?! Regardless, you don 't need to dip the oysters into anything. They tasted fresh and 'of the sea '. Yum! The sushi was served 'ngiri ' style mounded rice with slivers of fresh fish on top. The fish served was shrimp (cooked , tuna, salmon and a white fish of some sort (not sure what type but it was all fresh and tasty . Main Courses we tried: Reading that Lu 's makes Hand pulled Noodle Soup was what drew me there in the first place. YES HAND PULLED NOODLES! What an art! Here is the summary of visit #1. I selected the Chicken Noodle Soup. Sounds simple, right?! NO WAY!! The broth was rich and clear obviously and painstakingly homemade stock. The bowl was full of those homemade noodles mounded so high, the noodles stuck out at the center of the cavernous sized bowl! In addition to slivers of tender chicken, there were assorted vegetables in the soup such as slivers of cabbage, celery, bean sprouts, and broccoli. I asked for more broth because there was such a big mound of noodles! The server quickly retreated to the kitchen and brought back not a small cup of broth, but a whole other HUGE BOWL of broth! Needless to say, we brought home some chicken noodle soup that night. My husband ordered the Vegetarian Combination Sushi Dinner. Fresh made by one of the TWO sushi chefs at the station that evening, the rolls included slivered assorted vegetable roll, cucumber roll and avocado roll. The Japanese dinners included miso soup and a side salad with the traditional ginger dressing. My husband ordered the dressing on the side and it arrived as requested. BTW he ate the whole dinner and exclaimed a big 'AHHHHH! ' afterward. (I 'd call that a great recommendation. Now, on to visit #2: With a love of noodles, I had to try their version of Lo Mein. I selected Lu 's Special Lo Mein. The lo mein included shrimp, chicken and bbq pork. Holy cow, what a great choice! I asked for some bean sprouts to be thrown into the mix. My noodles arrived hot, steaming and full of plump, wok seared shrimps, chicken, bbq pork, bean sprouts, carrot slivers and onion slivers. You know how you expect that great wok seared taste when you order Chinese? Well Lu 's delivered 110%. Once again, they exceeded my expectations. Quite yum, and really I hate to tell you this, but the serving could have easily fed 2 3 people. I took home leftovers and hid them in the fridge in an attempt to keep my husband from finding the leftovers... My husband ordered Japanese again and went for the Seafood Tempura dinner. The dinner included the soup, salad, white rice. The tempura once again arrived hot, fresh and crispy from the kitchen. The tempura included shrimps, crab sticks (surimi , scallops, eggplant, green beans, sweet potato. YUMFEST! Sorry to go on so long, but I cannot express how important it is that you try Lu 's. This is the kind of place you want to succeed. PLEASE try Lu 's you will not be disappointed but rather find yourself at home that night feeling compelled to write a long, positive review in yelp, urbanspoon and elsewhere so you can spread the word.

I love this place. Period! Since most outlets serve sweet dishes, I have made sure that they use a sauce that is not SWEET! Most of the sauces are prefabricated so they are sweet, sad) but the lady who took my order was super sweet and she made a customized dish for me Hunan Chicken with additional spices. Not only that I asked her to use orange chicken in another hot sauce, so she made a new dish again. I was so happy. And I'm addicted to her Gyzos. I was there three times! Can't wait to try more in their menu.
