They are only licensed to bring wine so don't expect to be able to drink a beer. They didn't tell me this until I had been there for 10 mins rather than when I sat down and asked them to open it. Food is so so and I wasn't delighted with my pho. The broth for pho wasn't very tasty - appeared to be hot water and a stock cube although that may not be the case-and appeared to have sugar in it , yuk. There were no vegs, just noodles and a couple of quails eggs. And I took most of it home; had to pay for a container and do it myself at the table. Great little addition to Cleveland St! Delicious, tasty and fresh food in a clean, spacious and inviting setting. Stand out dishes are the Special Vermicelli salad (with sugar cane prawns, spring rolls and roast pork), fried chicken wings and crispy chicken noodle soup. Family friendly with baby chairs and warm and helpful staff. Convenient location not too far from Central station and with a bus stop right outside. We were able to find street parking around the corner on Friday evening. Looking forward to trying the pho, fresh prawn rolls and braised pork dishes next time.

We've visited Mai Viet a few times since it opened and every time has been excellent. The food is fresh and tasty, and full of delicious ingredients. The menu is pretty extensive and some of our favourite include the Beef Pho, the Crispy Skin Chicken, and the Tofu & Vegetable Stir-fry. The Beef Cube Stir-fry is also excellent.The décor is fresh and clean, and the service is really polite and friendly. We can't wait for our next visit!

Ideal location before the play at Belvoir Theatre. This cafe is only a hundred metres or so from the theatre and is at the corner of Cleveland and Elizabeth streets Surry Hills.The food is delightful, crisp and fresh with all the subtlety that Vietnamese food has to offer. First time here but won't be my last. Food is well priced and tasty. Salt and pepper tofu was generous in serving size and really yummy. I ordered the vegetarian pho for my main and was advised to order the medium serve. It was huge and delish. Generous amount of veggies too. The spring rolls also looked delicious. Def give this place a try if you like your Vietnamese

Have dined here twice now and each time the food was crisp and fresh. The fish hot pot ,Beef salad and salt and pepper squid were all outstanding -and the accompanying vegetables and pickles fresh and generous. Would recommend for all Vietnamese food lovers. Decor is simple but clean

Clean, modern decor with tasty Vietnamese food. They offer lunch specials at $10. It's a popular place as we got there early as soon as it opened and soo around 7 tables were booked. The main meals are a good portion. Will definitely try again.

I went here for lunch with my workmates. They had a $10 lunch special that was fairly good value. I ordered the pho (raw beef + beef brisket) which was delicious. It had lots of flavour! We will definitely be back!

We had pork vermicelli salad and crispy chicken vermicelli salad. Best Vietnamese tasted on our trip to Sydney. All ingredients so fresh. Very very clean restaurant too. Staff very friendly definitely be back!!!
