11/15/21 I visited today and I ordered the Puerto Rican plate con pastel and my husband ordered a Puerto Rican plate con alcupurria. The food was surprisingly so good and it was plentiful. Each plate was in the vicinity of $17 each. If Mami Evi sells those pasteles de guineo congelado, I will buy for Thanksgiving/dia de accion de gracias. Instead of potato in the pork stew for pasteles, they use chick peas/garbanzos. This does not compromise the taste, actually I liked it more.
We stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant by chance, and we couldn't be happier! The home-style cooking truly warmed my soul. Along with the delicious food and excellent service, we learned that they donate their leftover food to those in need every night. They also organized a coat and blanket drive for the homeless, personally delivering the items on the streets. Please support wonderful businesses like this in our community.
Mama Evie’s is outstanding! The food is absolutely delicious. Everything from the stewed chicken to the pollo asado and the pernil—oh my, the pernil was cooked to perfection. The rice was spot on, and the black beans were fantastic. To top it all off, Mama Evie herself is incredibly sweet. You can really tell that she takes pride in her food and her restaurant.
This place is absolutely amazing! Not only is the food here delicious, they put in a last minute order for a school party for 28 students and prepared it an hr before opening. They really saved the day and the kids loved it!!! I also love how it’s a family owned restaurant. I just moved out here and I have to say this is my favorite restaurant so far! Been here a couple times and stopped by again today. As always amazing home cooked food and kind service. Their stew chicken brought me back to childhood. To my knowledge they do have a rotating menu, so different options on different days which definitely keeps the experience interesting.Cant wait to visit again.
The owner of this restaurant is outstanding, the food is fresh, and the customer service is exceptional. Don't miss out on the incredible homemade rice pudding—it's truly out of this world. This is the place to be! Enjoy top-notch Portuguese fisherman-quality dishes at a fraction of the price.
First time trying their food today and we loved it! Many options to choose from and everything we had was very flavorful! Looking forward to coming back for more. Definitely stop by and give it a try.
