Mamma Mia's Ashmore

This modestly sized restaurant, located next to Ashmore Road Seafood Steak Restaurant, is serving up some top-quality food. Open 7 nights a week for dinner from 4-9 pm and for lunch on Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, Thai Ashmore has plenty of parking available. I tried the Pad Se Ew with Duck and it was superb - the duck was especially delicious! The service was very friendly, but make sure to make a reservation for Friday or Saturday dinner as seating is limited. The only downside was that the food was served in flimsy plastic bowls and plastic forks were provided, even though I had indicated I would be dining in. The restaurant has recently moved to a new location and they are still getting their bearings. When you enter, you can sense their adjustment period, but there is no wow factor. The food is decent, especially the slow-cooked masamang beef which I really enjoyed. However, the presentation of most dishes could use some improvement. The vegetables were roughly cut and there was a lack of balance at times. Despite this, I would still consider dining here again.

The Tom Yum soup was too salty for my taste and lacked the level of spiciness and fresh lemongrass kick I was hoping for. The Chili Paste Chicken Stir Fry was decent. The service was friendly, and I would be willing to return to try other dishes in the future.

Ordered chicken basil fried rice but received stir fry. Vegetable yellow curry was supposed to be potato and onion but it was mostly onion and hardly any potato. Food was tasty and lots of lovely sauce but no rice to soak it up. Pretty disappointing.

This is by far the absolutely best Thai food in the Gold Coast area. Real Thai taste and great, friendly, attentive staff. Very recommended!
