It is important to put this kind of restaurant in context to ensure a benchmarked review. Manora 's are found throughout Switzerland and are part of the Manor department store chain. As a UK explorer living in the area for over 10 years, the best comparison I can give from Britain would probably be a John Lewis business. The food is all self service and as highlighted in some other reviews, the restaurants are always very busy during lunchtime and especially on weekends. The reason why they are popular is that they are probably the best value for money for any restaurant chain (or independent restaurant) throughout the country. For example, children under the age of CHF6 (Ask for Menu enfant) have a main course, dessert and drink. Considering that a Happy Meal at McDonalds costs almost twice as much for a fast food experience, it poses things in perspective. The food is usually consistent including a salad bar, fresh juices, grilled meat fish, various vegetarian options (including freshly cooked vegetables and either grilled, steamed or fried), soups, fresh pizza and much more. Some Manora 's elsewhere also have fresh pasta bars (in Vevey this is on the ground floor and not the main restaurant). They then usually have three cooking stations that offer them dishes from roast meat to say oriental and seasonal dishes. There are large selections and all at prices probably one third cheaper than elsewhere (typical main course with vegetables will be around CHF15 3dl wine for CHF9). There is a wide selection of desserts (including Movenpick ice cream), tea 's, coffee, beer, wine through the glass or 2dl, 3dl etc. Some have mentioned that the plate size can be confusing, but this is usually well signed, but of course in French. The Vevey restaurant has a beautiful deck area with mountain views and an indoor and outdoor children's play area. They also have free Wi-Fi. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 is opening hours. The main restaurant serves all options that are typically mentioned between noon and noon. Outside this time, the food availability is more on what is left, and then pizza 's crepes and all desserts and drinks. In the occupants, the clean-up routine by the staff can be seen from 2 a.m., which frustrates with such a limited dining window. So be careful that if you expect a late lunch, the options will be limited. The restaurant also does not open on Sunday (although near Monthey it different cantons) or in the evening. We have always enjoyed visiting Manora for a fast, inexpensive, pleasant meal. At that time my husband had lunch and put his iPhone on the table. The staff came and cleaned the dishes when my husband was ready, but still sat at the table. The girl cleaned the iPhone with the plates. Unfortunately, my husband didn't recognize it until he was almost back in the car. Of course no one in the restaurant knew of an iPhone turned on. We all love the family to go to manora: the food is always fresh and the buffets give you a incredible choice of food, from Chinese to Italian and french. One more thing: the pizzas are excellent! You choose yourself what to put on in a bol and deliver it to the cook! Also a great place wit kids!

Cheap is relative in Switzerland. But I think it's pretty fresh food that's heated up for you, it's not too expensive. At least it is real food at fast food prices so much better than these joints. Nice wine beer too. Can be a bit confusing.

Okeyish food, price range a bit expensive, but still affordable, good location due to in a shopping center and lots of free space. You don't have to worry about not getting a seat.
