Maria's Mexican Food

I go here when I’m craving street tacos in Waukee because we don’t have any taco trucks : It’s sufficient. But, I wish they’d let us order street tacos on their app. They have an online ordering system but it does not list street tacos? Very odd. To work around this issue, we always end up having to drive over to order, it’s a bit inconvenient as lines can get a bit long. But worth it for the occasional street taco craving.I like that they have a sauce station with so many varieties of sauces and toppings.

I happen to be around Waukee and was looking for a quick dinner meal. I spotted Maria's and thought, sure. I ordered #29 (two shrimp tacos with rice, beans) and a small drink for a little bit less than $15. Dine in. Place felt run down, communication lacking, food took forever (and wasn't busy), food was bland and somewhat under cooked, Salsa bar unappealing and perhaps unsanitary, and small portion. Not coming back.

The food was disappointing. It was standard American cuisine, but it lacked flavor and didn’t seem to be homemade. Additionally, the prices I was charged were higher than what was listed on the menu, and when I brought it to their attention, they just shrugged it off.

The restaurant claims to be open until 3 AM, but when I arrived at 1 AM, all the doors were locked. I understand it's late, but it was disappointing to have my hopes raised. On a positive note, the food is really good. Reserva una mesa ahora

the past 2 times i’ve waited in the drive through for 30 minutes, with 2 or less cars in front of me. the food is usually pretty good but the wait has become ridiculous.

This food is quite authentic for Iowa — it's the best I've found in Des Moines. Parking is plentiful, and there’s also a drive-thru available.

Been sitting in drive thru since 12. It is now 12:45 for a chimichanga meal. 45mins i have waited. Will never go there again.

Their birria tacos are so good. Honestly I haven't had something I don't like.
