I love middle eastern cuisine and after a recommended review by Urbanlist and diners below, we decided to give this place a try. Mashawi is a casual establishment with lovely middle eastern decor & nice staff. This place definitely offers great bang for buck especially if you dine here on Mon-Thurs and have their Tagine & dessert special for $20. We dined here on a busy Fri night and shared a Lamb Afrah & their Mixed Grill. The Lamb Afrah(similar to a Tagine) was reasonable with tender pieces of lamb & prunes in it. Visited here recently on a Saturday night with another couple (who happen to be vegetarian)- and was really looking forward to the experience. The menu is a great mix for both vegetarian diners and non-vegetarians alike, however I left slightly disappointed as the reality didn't quite live up to the potential. It was a mixed start- another couple had to be moved outside to accommodate our existing booking (we arrived at the exact time of our booking) only to be later reseated next to us. The dining area is quite cramped which adds to the liveliness but also results in a lot of noise and an awkward lack of distance to the next table (for those who prefer a little bit of personal space). So disappointed. What a waste of a babysitter. Went for a meal with my partner. We rarely get out, so it was mean to be special; however we should've gone elsewhere. The service here was nonchalant. When we arrived (we'd booked) the staff member pointed at a table rather than walking us to it; we were repeatedly referred to as, "guys" when staff attended to us (I am not a guy, and find this quite unprofessional); and as we left a staff member was standing right next to the door, but rather than open it she said, "seeyalater" and let us open the door ourselves. Amor mashawi. El personal siempre es amable y ama el ambiente acogedor. Los destacados son pepinillos de cortesía, hummus con picar, sopa de albóndiga (boda), cordero Afrah, Moussaka, Kibbeh, Walnut Baklava. Genial para que la familia se reúna también. Reserva una mesa ahora

Love Mashawi. Staff are always friendly and love the cosy setting. Standouts are complimentary pickles, hummus with mince, chicken meatball (wedding) soup, lamb afrah, moussaka, Kibbeh, walnut baklava. Great for family get together as well.
