I thought I had reviewed Matthew's before as I've been here a number of times now. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. I'd go there just for the experience of good customer service. Bathrooms are clean. The ambiance is low key but people are comfortable with their conversations and interactions. There is a bar and a television but it is not obtrusive. This time I tried something new which I don't usually do. I've had their beef burger, Matthew's chicken with crab dip, crab cake, and club sandwich (all at different times! This time I noticed a new item on the menu, a meatball sub. Sounded interesting so I asked the waitress about it who gave a smiling affirmation of it so I decide...
I have been here twice in the past couple of weeks. I took a friend out to dinner, and we enjoyed it so much, I took someone else to lunch here the next week. The service was very good both times. I really enjoyed the ambiance- it is attractively decorated, and well lit without being overly bright. Even when it was full, it wasn't too loud. I really liked the two sandwiches I got. The first was definitely my favorite- it was a grilled chicken sandwich with crab dip on top. Delicious! The second time I tried the Catonsville BLT, pictured here. That was also very good. This is probably the third or fourth time that I've been to Matthews and every single time I've been completely satisfied. Today I went along I was seated promptly after being greeted promptly and the waitress was fast and efficient I believe her name was Haley. I ordered the Surf's Up drink and it was very good and then I ordered the crab and corn flatbread which was really good. A nice surprise full of crab meat and Old Bay and sweet corn. I have had their crab cakes and their filet mignon and their salmon and their crab covered pretzel and everything on the menu as far as I know is awesome. I have dined with several people before and they all enjoyed their food immensely. I will return
Solid 3.5 stars. We were seated right away as it wasn't too busy. There was some music playing, but it was still quiet. The table was definitely a little sticky. For an appetizer we started with the pretzel nuggets that were cooked perfectly. The cheese dip was light and delicious. It complimented the pretzels well. I also had a garden salad with my entree being the steak. The peppercorn was a nice touch. Good mashed potatoes and asparagus. My partner ordered the seafood mac and cheese which he said was good. We loved the bread that came with it. Good food but nothing to hit home about.

I attended a celebration of life (funeral) event after a family friend's grandmother had sadly passed away. The event was held privately in the basement and I thought it was a fantastic venue. There was a small buffet, semi open bar, and plenty of seating. I especially liked that there was easy access outside in case some of the attendees needed to take a phone call, smoke, or needed to leave early. I thought the food selection for the buffet wasn't that big, but everything was delicious, including dessert. I would certainly return to have dinner in the main restaurant.
It was our first time here. someone told us about this place) so we decided to try it out. Our waitress Maxine was very pleasant. The appetizers were really good. My husband had the crab cake. Although it was smaller than what we're used to getting from other restaurants, he said it was pretty good. I wish they had Lamb chops on the menu, but they don't which are my fave) So, that's why I opted to just get appetizers. We'll most likely return! It was a cool , relaxing vibe!
Stopped in because we were in the area. Ate at the bar because it was crowded and no tables were available. It was 5pm. Bartender/server was friendly and offered helpful suggestions. We had a pot roast sandwich platter (wonderful homey taste) and a crab cake sandwich (on lettuce). My wife loved her crab cake and she's definitely a connoisseur. Good inexpensive meal with good service. Recommended.
We did not plan to go to Matthew’s 1600 but I am so glad we did. We were lucky to get Jasmine as our server!! She made sure we had everything we wanted. Our food came out fast, hot and delicious. Jasmine even took it upon herself to tell the bartender to add something else to my 2nd cocktail and it was even better than the first one. Thank you for a great dinner.

Matthews 1600 was an excellent dinning experience, the food and service were both excellent. The establishment and restrooms were very clean, there is also a significant amount of free parking. Highly recommend for couples looking for something special!
Enjoyed this place on a Wednesday evening. Went for an after work dinner. The waiter was beyond nice and helpful very attentive. His customer service was 5 stars alone. Food was great and so was the crush drink sampler.
