Their customer service lacks tremendously. Placed an order online for pick up and was told it would be ready between 2:07-2:17pm. I walked in at 2:20 and waited for a bit before the 3 people standing at the hostess stand even acknowledged me and when I stated I was here for a pick up order the guy just brushes me off and says the order will be out soon. I then get looked up and down by another server that was standing right there before she walks away after it seemed like she was judging me? Was I not welcomed there to eat? It feels bad to write this review for what used to be my favourite restaurant in NJ. Over the last few months, I had heard from my friends and colleagues that Mauka is losing its taste and quality of food and its service. Nevertheless I still chose to have dinner here on my LAST DAY IN NJ. And to my surprise, it was nothing like before! We asked for dry manchurian, we were served the gravy one. When we pointed it out to them, they technically just removed the gravy and served us the manchurian balls (which were tasteless and literally “dry” . The okra was undercooked and oily. I happened to be one of the first customers to visit this restaurant when they opened in 2022. I visited them multiple times until approximately 1 year ago before I moved of state. On my visit to NJ yesterday , I was really excited to dine at this restaurant. We ordered all the dishes we used to order previously including their signature malai kofta and garlic naan. It was unfortunate to see that none of their dishes stood up to their previous standards. I visited there with friends and ordered Manchurian dry, Bhindi sabji with Garlic Naan.. Firstly, they served manchurian with gravy and after a request they served just plain manchurian balls garnished with coriander!! Bhindi was half-cooked and sticky! Even while chewing I felt the taste of seeds! On top of that when I explained everything to manager, he said ‘MY RESTAURANT IS FULL, IF YOU ARE NOT LIKING THE FOOD…IT’S YOUR PROBLEM! My friend and I stumbled on the place on our way back from the beach and I gotta say we were really impressed with the food. The flavors are all very authentic and the spices are on point (if you cant handle spice let them know . We ordered the rosemary cheese naan (cheesy bread , poori (fried crispy bread , kheema samosa (minced chicken pastry , chicken biryani (chicken in rice , laal maas (lamb in spicy sauce and a mango lassi (mango yogurt drink . The experience was extremely bad. The waiter and the owner were extremely rude. The food was low quality. The ladyfinger was undercooked. The malai kofta was not how it used to be. The least they could do to make our experience slightly better was to be polite. Will never visit or recommend Mauka to any one.
