May's Thai Malaysian Cafe

What an awesome, awesome find; my wife booked this sight unseen as we were going on to a concert later in the evening. She looked at the venue, then searched for eateries around there and this gem was uncovered. We arrived and the cafe was fully of Uni Students, which is normally a great sign as students always search out good, great value food. The atmosphere was busy. This cafe is unlicensed, so you can bring your own alcoholic drinks (BYOB if you wish, we didn’t know this at the time, so we ordered Jasmin tea, which was delicious. An incredibly simple café, few tables, open plan kitchen, maps of Thailand and photos of the Thai royal family: if you love good Thai food (or Malaysian or Indonesian) and do not mind a very informal setting and service, this is the place for you. Cheap prices, enormous portions, great quality. No alcohol licence but you can either take your own or have jasmine tea, which is also good for you every now and then.

I come to this unique place often since I love the special atmosphere that is part of this restaurant. The staff is awfuly helpful and well trained. The service is extraordinarily quick. Needless to say, the food you eat is highly distinguished. I have been there often and I was always joyful. The cost is decent. I highly recommend this place to all my friends.

We popped in here on a Monday night after a teatime trip to the Hyde Park cinema and the place was packed. No frills laid back buzzy cafe full of students. Friendly and speedy service. Great food with big portions. Amazing value for money and better than many Thai cafes I’ve been to.

Really fantastic authentic Thai food. Doesn't look fancy but the food was unbelievable. Price is really good £5 for any main before 5pm and it's a big portion too! and even better it's bring you own booze. Pad Thai with chicken pictured

Birthday party for 13 family students which they handled perfectly. Food was delicious, especially the starters. Fun buzzy atmosphere. Don't go to May's for a quiet romantic dinner for 2! Excellent value. Would recommend highly.

Four of us called in for late lunch after University open day. This is a cosy cafe type environment. Very pleasant service. Food cooked to order, huge bowls of fantastic soup, pots of tea, great value.

I sat the other night with my house. delicacies thai at a great price and local to last from students vegan and allergen friendly eating if that is what they want and really great customer service.
