Normally not a pizza eater I happened to eat two within one week once at a pizzeria in Zürich Seefeld, once at one in Zürich Wollishofen on the other side of the lake. Both times I had been with a friend and both times we tried the Pizza Napoli, my favorite one. And automatically one starts to compare. Without any hesitation I can say that food, service and atmosphere had been far better in Wollishofen, at the MediterRana. The young waitress here does a super job: fast, efficient with always a friendly smile on her face. We sat in a corner overlooking the restaurant, where there is enough space between the tables, not this having to squeeze through, which must have been especially uncomfortable for the waiter at the other place. Also the air and the noise level was better here. The pizza again had a thin crust and was with plenty of anchovies and capers on it. My British friend, who was with me, said that it had been one of the best pizzas he ever had. Besides a good pepper mill there was a little bowl of peperoncini in olive oil on the table. Curious about the name of the restaurant, I found out that 'Rana ' was the Pakistani family name of the previous owner. On the business card that was brought with the bill, the actual owner has a typical Albanian name. We used to see the owner once in while during dinner, helping out his waitress and passing by our table to wish 'good appetite '. It did show to me not for the first time (one of my other favourite Italians in town is run by two Kurdish brothers that you don 't have to be an Italian to run a good Italian restaurant.
