I 'm giving two stars only because the waitstaff and bartender really really tried. However, they can only work with what they are given. The menu was handed to us as if everything was available, we order and oh sorry no tassot,. OK then let 's have the pasta, oh sorry no pasta. Ummmm, ok then we 'll take 3 legume, ooh sorry only one legume available. Mind you they opened at 4 and we had 730 reservations. The restaurant was completely empty yet the appetizers took an hour to get. Ordered a patron margarita and was told patron is only available if we buy the whole bottle. The fish was a joke at best and insulting at worst. I 've never seen poisson gwo sél that was so small! Fried fish, small....
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time, and I absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. My server was incredibly friendly, making me feel right at home. The prices are very reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous, which shows that they really want you to enjoy your experience. The drinks were fantastic and on the stronger side, which I appreciated, especially since many places water down their cocktails. Whether you're going on a date or bringing your whole family, this place is great for everyone. I can’t thank the staff enough for such a wonderful experience!
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. I went for brunch and was shocked to find out that they charged $45 per person and then added extra fees for almost everything. It felt unfair to charge so much for things like chicken wings, which cost an additional $15. For the initial price, I expected a better selection, especially when it included items like oysters and a combination of bacon, egg, cheese grits, shrimp, fish, and chicken and waffles, with only one dessert option. Experiences like this make me hesitant to support many Black-owned businesses, as it feels like price gouging.
I gave it 2 stars because I can't lie. The food is actually good, but not consistently good if that makes sense. Been there 3x and the only thing consistent was weak service. I keep trying to give my people a try but my last visit is what got me here on Google. It was a family dinner that we made reservations for. SMH. No tassot, no legume, no djon djon... You can't request patron in your drinks either unless you're buying the entire bottle. Y'all have to do better. The actual service providers were doing their best but the decision makers here clearly set them up to fail. Get it together.

They actually deserve 1 but I’m giving them a 2 because bartender/waiter was really trying. My friend make a reservation since Wednesday for her birthday when we arrived there they didn’t have it on paper. It’s cause a lot of confusion because my friend had the name of the person that took her reservation and the person was present.The food was ok except for the diri cole. They don’t have goody bag. So unprofessional I won’t go back and would not recommend it. Not enough variety of food on Sunday they don’t have lambi, griot, black rice. ??????
I would give this place a zero if i could. You guys are broke. If you cant afford to order instacart DO NOT ORDER. You are putting someones job in jeopardy because you dont make enough money to AFFORD what you order. They olaced an instacart order asked to be shown the product to make sure it was right, and then when confirmed it was right still claimed it was wrong so they could get their money back. You aren't honest and I worry what that means for your food. Do better.
I attended a holiday party at Meli Melo and found it to be a spacious venue. For those who don't drive, it's conveniently located near a train station, which is a big advantage. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food and drinks were delicious, contributing to a wonderful atmosphere overall. I would definitely recommend this place! In fact, I’m seriously considering hosting my next event here.
Nice, clean, and the atmosphere is very friendly but with the food they have to ease up on the salt.
