The food at Mel's Diner is quite good, and the service is also decent. However, I encountered an issue yesterday, Tuesday, June 18th. I called at 10:51 a.m. to confirm if they would be open, and they assured me that they were. We arrived at 11:48 a.m., only to find that they were closed. This seems to be a recurring problem; their online page indicates they're open, but often they're not. In the past four weeks alone, we've tried to visit four times when they were supposed to be open, and each time we found them closed. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time trying to go there.
I didn't think places like Mel's still existed. Bringing the old diner experience, with luncheonette seats as well as tables and skilled old-school waitresses, the feng shui alone is worth the visit. But the food is even better. And the prices don't seem to have heard about post-pandemic inflation, leaving room for a generous tip. I was on a road trip so don't live nearby, but I'll 100% be back the next time I'm in the area.
They don't have any vegan options on the menu, but I got their coffee black and a plain bagel with Smucker's orange marmalade and it was so delicious (and is vegan). I think I might go back just for that, and my waitress was very nice. Oh, and it only cost $6 ? Vegetarian options: A plain bagel with Smuckers and black coffee is vegan (and everything vegan is vegetarian).
Enjoyed a nice breakfast/lunch here with a friend. First Thing cash only. Not a big deal but you need to be prepared. The service was great, very friendly! The food was also great! All things breakfast. Big portions very tastey! Parking is plentiful. Definitely a great place for breakfast.

This was my second visit, and I absolutely love it! It's a charming and cozy spot with welcoming staff, quick service, and delicious food. I'm a big fan of their home fries. I can't wait to return for lunch to sample their burger!
The staff are very friendly the food is very good and large portions at a small price. Check it out for yourself you will not be disappointed
