Merchants Fish - Reserva de mesa

On holiday in the area, we’d seen the food looked good here so decided to have a take-away tea. As we entered the chippy, people were stood front and back, so we enquired if they’d been served, and we were told “yes” so we stood in front of the till/order point. The young server was fulfilling orders so we waited to be served. After 5 minutes when he clearly wasn’t readying food we wondered what was happening as he just ignored us. After a few more minutes he came to the till right in front of us, shouted “who’s next?” to our bemusement. Not family friendly. Visited for lunch with a friend today and my 11 month baby. Food was lovely no complaints at all, however as we paid our bill I apologised that my daughter had dropped some food on the floor. The lady proceeded to make a fuss of how much of a mess my daughter had made. I was extremely embarrassed, especially with a restaurant full of customers. I would of happily cleaned it up had have been given the chance. Would of taken 30 seconds with dustpan and brush. The restaurant could do with a radio or some music to create some atmosphere

We decided to try this restaurant because they offer gluten-free fish and chips, which is hard to find for my partner who has celiac disease. It was our first time at Merchants and the food was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this place.

Not good the female staff member serving kept playing with her hair and touching her face. A big no no when serving food, very off putting. The fish and chips were mediocre. I agree with a previous comment standards have definitely declined. I won't be going back. Reserva una mesa ahora

I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant with a delicious sausage and fantastic chips. The staff were friendly and service was great. I will definitely be returning and already miss the food. Thank you to the lovely staff, I love you all!

Great portion size. Easy, relaxed atmosphere and everything was just right, even the Rijo coffee in lovely glass cups! It was a fair drive from home but really worth the effort and will be going again

I visited Merchants today and the fish was outstanding - very white and fresh. Despite not feeling well, the young ladies took very good care of me.

Had gluten free fish and chips today….. best fish and chips I’ve ever had only had to wait a couple of minutes for it to be cooked fresh…. amazing Reserva una mesa ahora

Very fair prices and portion sizes. Great seats outside by the River
