We stopped in for a casual dinner in the neighbourhood a couple weeks ago and were excited for dinner. The wine list is very good and the area around the bar was full for happy hour on Friday. We shared the 1st course of mussels and they were quite good but that is where it all stopped. Before we were done the mussels our server brought our main courses. When we said that we were not ready for them yet and we were in no rush she said "ok, I will just put it under the heat lamp." We weren't even half done the mussels and what we thought would happen did happen. Our mains sat there for over 20 mins under the heat lamp. Both of our pastas were glued together from the heat lamp and my meatballs...
We decided to try Merchants again sometime after our disastrous first time when they first opened (and postponed their grand opening date which we had invited a bunch of friends to come to, but that's a different story). We were hopeful after seeing all the taps at the bar and seeing the place quite busy night after night. Turns out, most of the taps are wine. So if you are a beer drinker, this is NOT the place for you. Also, the art work and menu lend itself more to the yuppy crowd, which may or may not be your scene. It's definitely not ours. I ordered the fish tacos, and while they were decent, they weren't outstanding. The fish was more like little nuggets and I was disappointed that there was no avocado included, even though it wasn't listed as a topping on the menu. My friend had the burger which was tasty, and the Caesar salad was well-dressed and not too salty or soggy. We also had vodka Caesars, but they were on the smaller side and a bit watery.
We dined here on a weekday with a 1 year old toddler, the staff was very accommodating with the baby - they do not have high chairs, but a booster seat that straps to the chair that worked well for us (maybe not great if your child gets restless easily. The fish tacos were very good and the mixed greens salad was large and filling.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Calgary or even Canada. Super friendly staff and the owner Blair makes sure to go out of his way to great all the guests and make sure everyone is taken care of. Highly
No kids cup. No high chairs. But they have kids menu ! And our server was doing her check in in her sections table pass beside us no check in, and did made a may I 4 time no answer. we ask twice for the bill.
Went for some casual drinks and apps. The patio was done up nicely, the beer selection was on point and the food was solid. Calamari and wings.
The brunch at this restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I highly recommend trying their brunch menu!

Great menu well done. We shared three appetizers and enjoyed the variety. Wines on tap are a great way to ensure freshness.
