Sushi at Mikuni's is always good.. But I think the family has overextended itself a bit. I remember when the original family restaurant in Fair Oaks was small and the grandfather would make radish roses for the kids! The sushi is always fresh. The younger members of the family who are now in the business seem to focus more on the trendy rolls, which are fine. All the Mikuni restaurants are so crowded now, I rarely go. They've done well. It's just not quite place to go for some nice sushi with the family anymore.
I liked the bento options!. I went with a huge group and this restaurant did a decent job serving all 14 of us. I would say that they took their time because we waited so long for our food. The food was good, not spectacular, but good. I would definitely go back again. They offer a wide array of bento lunches for about $10 dollars, and that was what most of us got. The only complaint I have (other than service) is that they should add more vegetarian options.
Fantastic and loyal Ichiban restaurant. I have been a customer since they first opened. My daughter only eats sushi from Mikuni, as she finds it to be the best. The sushi is always fresh, with delicious sauces and a great variety on the menu. Although I wish they would have reduced their prices on rolls like other places, I understand that Mikuni has a reputation for quality. I highly recommend trying the seared sea steak - it is exceptional.
The food was delicious. The sashimi slices were small, but I was pleased to see that they included three pieces instead of the usual two. The sashimi combo even had octopus, a dish I had never tried before and probably wouldn't have ordered on my own, but I found it to be surprisingly good. The nigiri was standard and tasty. The zig zag soft shell crab hand roll was amazing. It's no wonder the restaurant was packed at 4pm on a Friday.

Great Japanese restaurant, fresh fish, and best in the area. Puff daddy very delicious along with the BBQ tuna ,with mixed sauces. Love going there during Monday night football when you get your favorites at cheap prices.
Still the best sushi in Sacramento!!!!! They have the freshest fish I have had Anywhere in Sacramento!!! The freshness Is worth every penny especially if you are a sashimi/nigiri lover....
The Marilyn Monroe roll was delicious and the Japanese food at this restaurant is very enjoyable. Great value for the price.
