Honestly, I was very surprised! My wife and I wanted to try it for a while and it was very good! I grew up in TX and I 'll admit I 'm a bit biased when it comes to bbq. Being i live in MI now...Mission BBQ has become our 'go to ' until we visit TX again. Mission has many options on their menu to include kids, prices are not to bad, and the only thing I didn 't like is that they have Pepsi...lol! We will be returning not just for the food, but Mission BBQ is a HUGE supporter of military and first responders! If your military, fire, police, emt, they will let you bring in you department/unit/Org. patch to be hung on the wall.
Walked in at noon and the National Anthem was playing and everyone in the restaurant was standing with their hand over their heart. I knew right then this was no ordinary fast food restaurant. The patriotic them is very cool and the BBQ and choice of sauces were outstanding. Having visited almost every barbecue place in Kansas City I think that is quite a compliment.
Good BBQ and great service. I 've seen them giving out coupons for free sandwiches to veterans many times. Good selection of meats with a rotating monthly 'black plate special ' that usually has some interesting dishes. Many sauce options. I wish there were more tables were all the chairs had backs, instead of the basic benches. The employees here are wonderful.
I love what they do for Veterans. I'm always willing to support an organization like this. I stopped in for the chopped brisket sandwich with some sides. The meat was tender, not dried out like most brisket I've tried in the area. The spiced collard green sides were my favorite. I will definitely be eating here more often.
