"Little pricey, but the food was awesome… Andy, our server, was helpful and very attentive. The decor is simple, and could be a little more interesting, but tasteful and clean. Like we said, the food was awesome… The Muscato sangria was excellent per Andy’s suggestion… Will definitely return."

I had high expectations for Mitchell's. The menu and decor reminded me of Legal Seafood (one of our favorite restaurants in Boston, so that's a very high compliment). Our waitress was outstanding. She quickly brought out our clam chowder soup and bread (both very good), as well as our daughter's noodles, which made us all happy since we were starving. When our main courses arrived (with a bit of a longer wait than expected), my husband's food was lukewarm. Our fantastic waitress took it back, had his dinner remade, and removed his entree from our bill. The service was excellent. However, the food did not live up to the service or atmosphere. I enjoy dining at Mitchell's as it is usually a pleasant experience. However, there are a few waiters who can really make the evening unpleasant. On my recent visit, one waiter barely spoke to us except to take our order, and didn't engage in any conversation. When we tried to joke around with him, he seemed uninterested and gave us a cold glare. This particular waiter really put a damper on our dinner experience. It's a shame because the food is usually great. I'm not sure why he is still employed there. If you happen to get this waiter, you might as well just stay home or opt for takeout instead. In situations like this, tipping is the last thing on your mind.

What a wonderful date night we had a Mitchell's! As always the grilled oysters in their delicious garlic butter sauce drizzled with melted parmesean cheese and toasted sourdough was the perfect start to our meal. The market Trio with a Maryland crab cake, seasoned salmon, and skewer of jumbo grilled shrimp was simply sumptuous! The Trio included their corn relish, redskin smashed potatoes, and asparagus as accompaniments to the seafood and was very satisfying. Couple all that with artfully crafted cocktails and an attentive server and you will have a similar experience like we did!

My experience at Mitchells for dinner was fantastic. Everything we ordered, from the gumbo to the entrees, was wonderful. Each of us had something different - one had the pecan crusted trout which was very good, another had the salmon which he said was wonderful, and I had the shrimp and scallops in a delicious sauce, which was the best. Our waiter Andy was efficient and helpful. Overall, it was a pleasantly wonderful experience and we look forward to returning. We come to Louisville every year for 10 days and love it.
