The main dining area was pleasant, but we were seated in the upstairs loft, which felt like an afterthought for extra seating. Even though we made a reservation a week in advance and the restaurant was only half full when we arrived, we ended up in the back of the loft, where we missed out on the ambiance. What a great neighborhood gem. We were visiting from LA and our friend who is an artist in Oakland recommended this restaurant. We walked there from our hotel and was warmly greeted by the Host. The restaurant was buzzing with a mix of families, friends, and business people. There is a full bar but it is a more pleasant vibe rather than too loud and trendy or too stuffy. The food was great and the menu varied for many different tastes. We loved our server and we also liked the cocktails. It was reasonably priced so you could frequent it regularly (if we lived locally). I know our friend goes there often.
I had lunch and I ordered the lasagna. It was small( maybe this is due to it being on the lunch menu). I would say it was a 4 inch by 4 inch square served with some greens. The lasagna was ok, it won’t blow you away. After i ate it was was still hungry. To make it a meal, you may need to order some extras like the Brussel sprouts which were very good.I would go back to see their dinner menu.The outdoor seating is nice and the staff did a good job, I just would have like larger lunch portions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Mockingbird. We shared the burrata appetizer and it was delightful. I had the mussels for my main the flavors were unexpected, perfect, and the spice level was just right. We shared the bread pudding, strawberry shortcake, and guittard chocolate budino for dessert and they were special in their own way. Don't sleep on the cocktails, they're a must try. I enjoyed The Community Garden, the flavor is difficult to describe but I definitely recommend.

I visited this restaurant with an old friend for drinks after dinner. My drink was enjoyable, but my friend wasn't pleased with his choice. The prices are on the higher side, which is to be anticipated. The ambiance is lovely, and the bartender is quite friendly. We also sampled some desserts, which were tasty. Overall, it's a good spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a nice date.
Our waiter was awesome, made us feel welcome, and comfortable. Food was great, we had the lasagna and pasta carbonara for our main course. We started off with the salmon bruschetta and brussel sprouts. For dessert we had the banana bread pudding and affogato. We will come back again.
I am happy there is a spot like this in downtown Oakland. Eating outside was surprisingly pleasant and quiet. Food was very good. My friend and I shared an entree salad and the lasagna. Service was very good.
