As a multiple time diner with Monarca we were disappointed this time A fine dining restaurant requires a well orchestrated collaboration of atmosphere, service, high quality ingredients and well prepared food with a well plated presentation. Monarca used to hit on all points, sadly this last dinner hit on some but missed on others. The quality of the core food is there, the presentation is still well executed, the atmosphere is still great. Where things have fallen is in the level of service. Authentic Real Mexican Food Restaurant A Five Wow, This was A 10 out of 10 experience In the Salt Lake City Valle, wait in The State Of Utah You Will not Find a place like this and I will probably bet you will not find it in the Nation, I have traveled The entire United States except Alaska And Hawaii and this place is in a different level At Monarca is A Fine Dining Experience and get the authentic flavors of Real Mexican Food. The food is nowhere near authentic and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Coming from California with real Mexican food, it was a weird experience. I've never had Birria consome that was all broth no meat or anything. It was extremely BLAND and for their prices I just expected way better. I can get the same dish for $15 with two birria tacos, a birria quesadilla, and a mulita, along with consome that includes nice chunks of meet and vegetables. The food was average, but it looks nice on the plate.

Monarca has quickly become our favorite Mexican restaurant in SLC. The location is very convenient and the service was great. I can’t say enough about the food. They had so many unique options. We ordered the ceviche which was some of the best I’ve had. Their birria tacos are unreal! I can see why they’re award winning! Definitely try this place if you’re in the area. We were seated at a lovely table with a delightful street view that added to the overall atmosphere. The chef kindly prepared Sopapillas for us, even though they weren't on the menu. While I've had tastier Empanadas in other places, these were beautifully presented. The menu features a diverse selection of food and drink options. I will certainly be coming back.

What even is this magical place?! Everything is immaculate and so so good. I couldn't even believe it. The ceviche, huitlacoche, mole, and margaritas were a dream. I can't wait to come back and show others these delicious dishes. Well. Freaking. Done. This is a core memory now.

Overall, great experience! A little loud, so be prepared for that. Great food too! No photos to share, too busy yammering and enjoying family and friends. The Salmon tacos were excellent first time having that as an option for fish tacos. Shrimp tacos equally as good too!

We had the queso and birria tacos and they were both awesome. Great food, staff was very attentive.
