We were staying at a hotel in historic Agen and did not know our way around, so I did a google search for restaurants nearby. This one looked great and we were not disappointed. Our only small vice was that very close by and adjoining this fine restaurant was a bar that was playing obnoxious and loud repetitive music, but they did tone it down 30 minutes later which made the atmosphere much more pleasant. We were VERY pleasantly surprised when we ordered food. I ordered a chicken entree and it turned out to be a large feast with six course meal including crayfish and 4 desserts! My wife also was astonished when she ordered an asparagus dish and also received escargot. So much food, so delightful with a wonderful server. This is an awesome place and our total bill was much less than what we expected.
Absolutely wonderful. Honest, good, local food, and lots of it! Served in robust pots and pans. Super friendly sweet staff. We had the menu with a Degustation of three starters: gazpacho, paté and pork with sauteéd veggies. Wonderful fresh bread. The fish with vegs and potatoes were delicious, and the deserts (Tarte tatin and dark chocolate cream cake were heavenly good. The recommended local wine (Refuge d'amour who needs anything else? just lovely. It was busy but not crowded, and really nice to sit outside under the old brick arches. Reservation not really necessary but recommended in weekends. Not to miss when visiting Agen!
