Montesacro Resto - Bar

We first had an afternoon drink here as it was so hot and we just wanted somewhere with air conditioning to cool down, but came back for dinner as it was such a nice place! We sat inside (for the air con) but there were many tables outside on the balcony overlooking the square creating a nice atmosphere. I had the risotto with chicken and partner had the fillet mignon, and we're glad we skipped starters as the portions were so generous! The food was delicious and service good - and they even had live music on the balcony which was really good and not too loud or imposing. First, there was a very loud singer on the terrace right in back of me so very hard to talk. The fried plantain cup appetizer filled with tomato and bland sauce was boring. The sea bass was OK but could have used more sauce. The other tables had more appetizing dishes and I am aware that group functions are different but the experience felt industrial right down to the miserly 3 ounce portion of wine. Other restaurants managed to provide very tasty meals (Example, Agave ) to our small group of 12 but Montesacro was a disappointment, especially since it was our last night in Colombia .

We stopped here for a cooling drink. Husband and friends had beer but I ordered a Gin and tonic. Did I get a great drink I felt very special when the waiter came with a brandy balloon with loads of ice and Juniper berries,the used a very long metal spoon to pour the tonic down into the Gin . Alot of fun and something to remember

This is a great restaurant I use to go there every time I stay in cartagena the service is very good the food is fabulous and the Zacapa mojito is out of this world is a better restaurant by far from gobernador by raush.

Nice patacones and wine, live music and balcony for romantic moments. If you're getting engaged they could be the perfect choice.
