Delicious home cooked meals and her curries are really spicy and yes it rests beneath a pool of spiced and aromatic oil ; However that is exactly what makes it authentic and unaltered. Perfect for lunch time take away as I work in the vicinity. I finally found someone who actually knows how to cook rice to perfection, yes it is just rice, but so many restaurants nowadays serve rice al dente. The starchier the rice the better it is for soaking up all the goodness of the gravy. This place, from the outside, is terrifying. It looks old and worn and lots of food at room temperature, which in a commercial setting is normally a HUGE no no. But, panic not.The food is delicious, the chicken biryani exquisite, the beef curry mild but full of flavour. From the outside, this restaurant may appear unassuming, but stepping inside is a feast for the senses. They offer a wide variety of Burmese curries to choose from. The chicken and potato curry was outstanding, and the vegetable bhaji was equally delicious. The prices are reasonable, with a generous takeout container costing just $10. Delicious! The lady there doesn't speak any English, but food is a universal language that unites us all. I simply smile, call her "aunty," and point to what I want. It’s a good idea to check out the menu displayed in the window before going inside, so you know what you'd like to order instead of standing there like you're trying to order a McDonald's burger and wasting her time. I'll definitely be back; the food is delicious and reasonably priced!
Mum's House is a small restaurant in the Summerfield Shopping Centre (Farmer Jack's Supermarket) and next to Chemist Warehouse. <br/ <br/ It has a couple of table and chairs outside undercover if you want to eat there.<br/ <br/ I haven't been there before, so I didn't know what to get. “Mum” came along and offered a few suggestions for me to try. I tried the beef curry and the chicken biryani, both were good.
Yummo. I love curry, and the authentic burmese pork, beef or chicken curry here is what i love. the chilli cobbler is also a treat. the food here at Mum's is full of flavour and the texture of the meat is always tender. The only disappointment here is when my stomach is full. I wish the place was bigger too. thanks Mum's Kitchen!!!
