Murray's Cocktail Lounge

Exceptional food and service. I am on my third post-vaccination road trip and one of my favorite activities is to try the most highly recommended steak house (or one of them in locations which have several) in the area. Murrays was one of several highly recommended steak houses and I chose it because it claimed to be the oldest. I have a weakness or predilection for older buildings and atmospheres. Murrays has two things going for it: the ribeye was exceptional (even when compared to The Barn in Evanston, Illinois, and The Marble Room in Cleveland and Keens or Peter Lugers in NYC) and the service. When I ordered my ribeye "medium rare", our waiter McShane told me to order it medium and that it would be perfect. I thought that was pretty bold for a waiter but I am grateful he did. The steak was perfectly prepared and phenomenal. The experience, however, was not perfect. The cabernet sauvignon I ordered (by the glass) was very good but not at the same level as the steak. The exterior of the restaurant has a great old-time look but the interior has no charm: it might as well have been built yesterday and basically looks no different than upscale chains such as Ruth's Chris. We were seated near a table of and of the diners at that table spoke so loudly that I thought he was sitting at the table with me. I understand that large parties, or more, are going to be loud and if I am seated by one, I ask to be relocated. I am not sure how an establishment should handle this situation when person at a table of is just loud and apparently unintentionally so and apparently clueless. Overall, the food and service were exceptional

The food was excellent but the service was even better! We reserved our table online with a note that it was our anniversary and not only did the host remember and congratulate us, but also our server and the manager. It’s great going to a place where they actually take the time and care about their customers. We definitely will be back and will be recommending Murray’s to everyone

Murray’s has to be the best restaurant we have ever been to. Absolutely delicious from the stuffed mushrooms to the sharing of a ounce tenderloin and end with ice cream! Was out of this world!

Murray's is our go-to for special occasions. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. I really love the atmosphere like an old steakhouse with Sinatra playing. The food is the best
