My Yen Chinese Restaurant

We had booked a table and ordered special dishes ahead of time for a special occasion dinner on week night. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived, with the only other customers a family with children tucking into an early dinner, and a few tables of couples. As the night wore on, we ended up with the restaurant to ourselves. Despite the lack of customers dining in the restaurant, we noticed they did a roaring takeout trade. Be aware that this restaurant changes hands and staff frequently. The standard has slipped so significantly in recent times that I cant recommend it and after eating in house recently I would not even recommend it for takeaway. In a huge dining room four tables of diners were wedged into one small area on top of one another. No air conditioning was offered on a hot night and listening to others conversations was off putting to say the least. Most of the diners just sat in silence as it was most uncomfortable. Dinner before a movie & we choose My Yen. Food was beautiful. Unfortunately it too nearly 45minutes to get any. The table service was abit poor. Not once did they offer us water, or even ask us if we'd like more drinks. We ordered 4 dishes & rice. 2 dishes came out, then about 10 minutes later came the rice, then 5 minutes later came the other 2 dishes. Good think we were sharing & not having our own meal. The good was very nice once it arrived. Mild was plenty spicy enough for us.

We go here quite often as we have Asian connections and the restaurant is invariably full of Asian customers - always a good sign. I think there is a Chinese and an Australian menu so for more true dishes ask for the Chinese menu (in English and characters i think). There are a few different dishes and service is quick and efficient. The decor is OK but not luxurious but we go to restaurants for the food so this is not a problem for us. The great food used to make up for the pretty average decor Went last month and it was direVegetables here use to be a feature but this was appalling. Clearly straight from the fridge into the microwave as the outside was hot and the centre coldThe salt & pepper squid was the dregs from the deep fat fryer and was a Mitchellin candidate.......that's the cross ply variety At least the Coopers ale was cold".......difficult to stuff this up

We were invited by friends to My Yen. Having read mixed reviews our expectations were low. It was however a pleasant surprise. The food was very tasty, meat tender, vegetables perfectly cooked and generous helpings. One could be critical of the food not arriving at the same time for each guest, and the staff being unsure of the dishes as they brought them out, but this was compensated by very good food and well priced.

The decor is basic and the food was not very good. I had to return my bowl of rice because it was hard and looked like it had other food in it. I think it was the owner that was at the counter and she looked dirty. The door to the kitchen was open and it looked really grubby. Not impressed

We'd often had takeaway from My Yen and my yen for a good vale meal has not been met. There seems to be an overabundance of veggie and sauce fillers and a shortage of the main ingredient. This evening we went elsewhere, and were treated to value for money. So long MY Yen... Reserva una mesa ahora

We live nearby and have half a dozen Chinese restaurants to choose from for take away and dine in! We have tried most of them and found My Yen to have the best food.

東西非常好吃，價格合宜。 不過不會選擇在店裡吃、環境比較老舊沒關係、但是餐廳裡面有股味道、應該試著重現整理餐廳內部會更好。
