We love Nando's pure and simple. We've eaten at this establishment in 3 different countries, having discovered it in Glasgow. I am a native Portuguese and therefore very familiar with their recipes for chicken. The peri-peri sauce (or what we'd call piri-piri) is an African concoction that not only adds heat but also amazing flavor to the food. This time around we ordered the Peri-Peri Chicken and fries with a side of Macho Peas, a pea mash with whole peas, parsley, mint and chilli which is to die for. You order and pay for the food, get your own utensils, napkins and any extra sauce at the condiments' bar (as you would get sugar at a Starbucks) and they'll bring you your food when t's ready...
I have such a love-hate relationship with Nando 's. The flavors are great but their choice of sides is a bummer. Any type of vegetables are either seasonal or in the form of salad. Even as someone who prefers smaller portions, the portions sizes are small and completely overpriced for what you 're getting. Today, I ordered a Peri Chicken bowl and a boneless breast with corn on the cob through the door dash app. The bowl came with no dressing and the corn on the cob had kernels so small and flat I couldn 't eat it. If I 'd tried to cut the kernels off with a knife, it would have been equivalent to maybe an ounce of corn. In the past at this location I was served the most tasty tiny wings Ive...
I finally got a chance to try this place! I've also heard great things. We ended up ordering the chicken wing appetizers with a 1/2 chicken order with a side of peri fries. With the chicken wings, we got the medium sauce which had a perfect amount of spice and we loved the grilled flavor of wings. For the 1/2 chicken, we got the lemon herb sauce and that was good too. We tried some sauces on the side including the wild herb sauce and the garlic peri peri sauces but they were just really vinegary to us. So we didn't try any other sauces. The fries side was really good, they were nice and crispy and the perinaise sauce was really good. We used the perinaise sauce to dip our chicken in and love...
This evening took a quick trip to old towne Alexandria and stopped at Nando's. It has a very cute vibe...simple and relaxed. We didn't know what we wanted at first so we picked up a menu and grabbed a table to before going up to the counter to order. I went with the pulled chicken bowl, charred sweet potato, and a slice of raspberry cheesecake. It was dropped off at our table really quickly. They offered to bring the cheesecake out after I'd finished my meal which was so thoughtful. Unfortunately I didn't stop to take any photos to showcase the deliciousness. Alas...I highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

Nando's Peri-Peri is a South African chicken restaurant now all over the DC area. This location is in Old Town Alexandria and is two levels, making it great for groups. You order up front from a massive menu that includes grilled chicken on the bone and great sides. I always order the grilled chicken sandwich that comes on a garlic roll with coleslaw. For sides, the fries with peri-peri mayo is to die for. They have a Coca-Cola freestyle machine and alcohol too (try their sangria! .
I ordered their Peri Peri Chicken bowl with mango and lime 2/3/2021 via Uber Eats. My only issue is that my chicken was undercooked. Undercooked as in pink meat. Based on the reviews, I'm sure this isn't their norm. I was able to cook the strips in the microwave the rest of the way. The bowl was delicious! The chicken issue is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. I considered 3 stars but, I caught the issue and didn't get sick. The food was very tasty. Even the carrot cake!
I tried the Bottomless Fro-yo with Dole Whip at this restaurant and it was amazing! I visited on a Friday night in Old Town Alexandria. It's a two-story Nandos with a friendly cashier. The chicken was tender and moist as always. The dole whip was delicious, but it melts quickly once it's served and turns into liquid within minutes.
I had heard a lot about this restaurant, as we don't have any in New Jersey. While visiting Alexandria, we stumbled upon it while walking around. We decided to order the wings with extra hot sauce. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, the wings were not spicy at all. I was disappointed as I was expecting a little more heat.

I love Nando's in the UK and it had been a while since I last visited, so I had to stop by here. I was not disappointed! The service was friendly and the classic Nando's chicken was delicious. They really excel at doing one thing exceptionally well. I love it!
