Negril Silver Spring

Delicious, nutritious, and quick! I hadn’t visited the Negril Silver Spring location in over 20 years due to some poor customer service experiences back in 1998. However, today I decided to give it another chance. I took a leap and ordered two days' worth of food, and I’m so glad I did! My meals were tasty, fresh, well-packaged, and arrived quickly. If you’re used to spicy food and expect the jerk chicken to have a strong kick, you might be disappointed; it’s mildly seasoned to cater to a wide range of customers. We ordered the jerk drumlettes lunch special, which came with 5-6 pieces of chicken, red beans and rice, and cabbage. The meal was impressive, as shown in the picture. We also tried the jerk pattie, beef pattie, and a slice of rum cake. While the cake is a bit expensive for just one slice, it’s definitely worth it if you haven’t had rum cake in a long time! Since the pandemic, the restaurant only offers take-out service. There are a couple of chairs available if you need to wait for your order.

There’s no better place for Jamaican food in DC than Negril! I’ve been dining here for 35 years, and every dish is fantastic. I particularly enjoy the curry, fricassee, goat roti, and all the fish dishes! The patties and coco bread are always fresh, too! They also offer all the traditional beverages and desserts. What’s especially great is the affordable prices. Everything is wonderful at Negril!

The jerk chicken sandwich and fish sandwich used to be SO good until they decided to change the sauce. The sandwiches were amazing back in 2018 and you know what they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Welp, the sandwiches aren’t as good as they used to be because of the change in recipe. Small portions, over priced, sauce too watery and no true jamaican flavor. Beef patty was dry with a lack of meat. I will travel to Brooklyn, NY for good jamaican food next time.

The food was wonderful! I ordered Fricasse Chicken with rice and peas and cabbage with a side of plantain. It was great! The food was not spicy at all and it was tasty!

Negril Jamaican eatery food is always fresh and tasteful. Unlike any experience I have had so far this place deserves a five star rating.
