I would have appreciated a clearer explanation of the situation at the time, as we felt a bit confused about what was happening.
When we were advised not to order a particular item unless we really wanted it, it made us feel like the kitchen either didn't enjoy preparing it or that we might be a burden by ordering it. I understand you were operating with a small team of four, which is quite challenging.

The chicken dishes are great. They use chicken breast chunks not those small stringing other Chinese places use. The egg roll was good too, the crab rangoon was tasteless. The service was good it was only one waiter so we didn't get our full meal at the same time but when it arrived it was hot and tasty. The decor is old and outdated but the owner (assuming) was so friendly and held conversations with us. One thing I didn't like was they served canned pop for dining in, that means no refills. Overall I will be back for sure.
We’ve been dining in and ordering takeout from this restaurant for many years, and the food is consistently fantastic. Occasionally, the service can be a little slow when they’re busy, but the waitstaff is always attentive. I really love the interior as well. The drinks are also excellent! Thank you, New China, for delivering delicious food to us all these years!
Incredible food! I visited New China for the first time, and even though its exterior is rather plain, the quality of the food was exceptional. I’ll definitely be coming back many times. Despite the abundance of upscale dining choices in Birmingham and Bloomfield, this has quickly become my favorite Chinese restaurant. Forget about PF Chang's and Chen Chow!

This restaurant has been around for quite some time, and it certainly shows. The interior could benefit from some updating and re-decorating to compete with newer establishments. Unfortunately, both the food and service were just average. Additionally, the portion sizes and quality of the ingredients could be improved.
The sauce is absolutely the star of the show here. Besides Alice's unique and delightful hospitality, what keeps bringing me back is the sauce for the General Tso's chicken that I absolutely love. It's perfectly balanced—not too sweet, not too thick, and certainly not just ketchup. I can't get enough of it!
The prices are fair, and I sampled the fried rice, which came in a modest but satisfactory portion. The egg roll was somewhat greasy, and sadly, I didn't find any meat in it. There are several excellent Chinese restaurants in the area, so I'm not sure if I would return.
I only wanted some Crab Rangoon. Which was pretty good but they didn’t put the sauce (that I specifically ordered) in the bag. So it could have been better…

I really enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere was soothing and inviting! It's easy to understand why they've been around for more than fifty years.
Our go-to for Chinese food for many, many years. Excellent vegetarian and non-veg options.
