Nicholas Barrel Roost

I've been going to Nicholas for many years. I remember when his restaurant was opened as a European style restaurant and how it has grown into the roost and barrel. Nicholas restaurant is by far the best restaurant in Monmouth county and probably one of the best restaurants in the state. The food is cooked to perfection, and the service is by far the best. Nicholas has a great atmosphere.

Great food and love the vibe but food came out way too fast! We were out for the evening, ordered a bottle of wine. We planned for a relaxed of two courses. Everything we ordered came out within 20 mins, at the same time. Not acceptable. Not sure where the breakdown was. Manager came over and apologized and took our first course off the bill. They did the right thing so we will be back.

Ordered the surf turf. Requested my slider med-rare, got medium. Lobster roll was ok however expected more flavor from it. Chips were on the burnt side. Small size Stella Artois was almost a disappointment. Any other similar type establishment would provide a regular 12 ounce bottom for the same price charged here. Based on my experience I would not recommend this restaurant.

Our server, Stella, was outstanding. The food was also. The oysters were small, but oh so tasty. I had the suckling pig and it was perfectly done, juicy, and very flavorful. My lady had the short rib and was thrilled. Desserts were tasty and big enough for 2, or to take home. The noise level, though, was pretty high and we only had people to one side of us. We love this place. The food and service is usually perfect. Not sure what was happening last night. Our server was not paying attention to us. We finished our food, but no one cleared our plates for quite a while and we finished our drinks and was not asked if we wanted refills. We had to flag someone for drinks. This has not been our normal experience.

I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The service was excellent-staff was knowledgeable about the menu and checked on us to ensure everything was satisfactory. The food is all amazing and worth it. Also, the drinks were fantastic. Lastly, it was decorated so beautifully for the holiday season. I will definitely be going back.

On a Saturday evening, it was very busy, and service clearly suffered. The chicken was overcooked and dry. Swordfish was just okay. The cuppaccino never arrived with dessert, and so we canceled that and concluded our meal. This place might be better for lunch, but for dinner, it is a real challenge.

love it here! went for a few apps on NYE. brought our 10 month old and were seated in the new enclosed patio. we had the brussel sprouts, pizza, chicken sandwich, and chicken bites. everything was great. love having this place so local to us. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had an early NYE dinner. We enjoyed the dining area in the “green house” which was much quieter than the main dining room. Food was excellent and service was attentive. Very nice evening.

We 're always very pleased with our experience at Barrel Roost and last night did not disappoint. From the amazing drinks to our favorite Not your grandma 's crudite it was delicious!
