Nigel's Good Food - Reserva de mesa

I’m hoping this review makes some think twice or ask questions before sitting down at Nigel’s on a Monday. We stopped by for lunch last Monday. We were greeted and seated right away, given a menu and our drink orders taken right out the gate. When drink were delivered and we looked through the menu the waitress informed us that Nigel’s was out of some items. Those items included pretty much ever side dish on the menu. Mashed potatoes, potato salad, Mac cheese, yams, Lima beans, stewed chicken, cornbread and cobbler. I’m thinking why would you even be open or why not have a sign on the door, why seat us start to serve us and then basically tell us you have only French fries, rice, and grits b...

OMG!!!!! I have been in Charleston the past couple days from Raleigh, NC and every restaurant stop I’ve made has been better and better!! THIS food…….I can’t put it in words articulately, but I WILL say that everything was top notch. I had fried pork chops, red rice, macaroni cheese, and the fried cabbage with cornbread the CORNBREAD!!!! It’s some of THE best cornbread I have tasted buttery and sweet. It must be a standard to give more than enough in Charleston because once again, I received way more than I could eat in one sitting. I couldn’t live down here because I would be as big as a house especially the way the staff treats you, so welcoming as if you were family!! Such a great experie...

I arrived at the restaurant around 5:30pm on a Friday and was seated right away without needing a reservation. It wasn't too busy when I got there. I ordered my meal and it was served in about 15 minutes. The food was hot, delicious, and budget-friendly, with generous portions. The restaurant is located at the end of a shopping mall with plenty of parking available. I had baked turkey wings, baked mac and cheese, collard greens, rice with gravy, cabbage, and iced tea. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning. I enjoyed the background music and found the staff to be friendly and polite. The baked mac and cheese was particularly delicious.

Nigel's Good Food has great food I'd say! This black owned restaurant gets my “food for the soul stamp of approval! When I am in Charleston SC visiting, this will be a spot I'll be sure to have to visit! -The fried shrimp and fish were cooked to perfection with great flavor. -Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were on point! -Gumbo had very good flavor, plenty of seafood/sausage/chicken/veggies -Hush Puppies were moist and seasonsed well -The service was great and the staff was very friendly. It was pretty good. I had the whiting and they really give you a nice piece of fish. One of my friends had the chicken fried steak and she said it was very good but the potatoes were very thick when she put her fork in it. It almost crumbled like cornbread. Other than that the food was good. We did taste the wings which I liked. They remind me of KFC's honey barbecue wings which I loved place was very crowded. They do a good business. Only thing is they're not Open on Sundays and their meals just seems like a nice Sunday meal

The staff seemed to be having a great time but it didn't hinder the quality of service it added to the joyful, soulful atmosphere. Both the service and food were fantastic (the okra soup was amazing). At first glance, the sides seemed a little light but I couldn't even eat it all. My daughter said she was sad when she finished eating because it was gone... we aren't from the area so, it will be awhile before we return. However, we're going to tell everyone we know to make sure they add this place on the list.

Yep. This place is as advertised. I usually heavily scrutinize a restaurant but i got nothing bad to say about this place. When I tell you EVERYTHING was hot and fresh when it came to my table! The macaroni was REAL macaroni and not some BS. I guess my only complaint is they ran out of ribs, turkey wings and greens but it's all good because I'm here for the next 5 year's.... I'll be back

Food here was excellent. Our server, Sheree was phenomenal. She was very attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the gechee wings to start. They were crispy and covered in a unique and flavorful sauce. Our food arrived shortly after and was hot and appealing. We ordered yams, corn bread and rice with our chicken. While in town for a short visit, I was craving soul food so I decided to try Nigel's. I opted for a take-out order of fried pork chops, macaroni and cheese, fried cabbage, and lima beans. Out of all the dishes, my favorite items were the fried cabbage and mac n cheese. I would return to Nigel's simply to enjoy those two dishes again. I highly recommend trying them out.

Make sure to order the fried green tomato appetizer and the low country ravioli - they are unique dishes that you won't find anywhere else and are definite must-tries!
